Noticed a couple HPDE groups this year will not allow helmets with a Snell Rating of 2015 or older and no Motorcycle helmets. Time to order those new 2020 rated helmets!

Yup. It hurts. But I think my 2015 is still ok for a few more years around here. Never been rejected for a motorcycle helmet. I better confirm before I sign up for the next event.

Northwoods Shelby had a statement on their site they will not be accepting anything under 2015 and no Motorcycle helmets, which they have not allowed the last few years anyway, and they do check them and give a sticker for the helmet. BIR Performance Driving school has allowed M rated the last few years so it evidently depends on the org. My G force is only about 5 years old but I believe its a 2010 so I have to look at a new one.

Ok, that makes sense. 2015 helmets are still ok. I thought you meant 2015s are not accepted now. ;)

I would definitely check the orgs you drive with to see their standards, but I would guess 2015 will still be good with most for HPDE days.

Groups are saying SA2010 or older will not be allowed.

SA2015 has another 4-5 years of legal use in any racing group.

SCCA has been like this for a long time. Most everyone else does the same. Bascially a helmet is good for 10 years max. Buy a SA2020 today, then in 2025 the next std will come out but your 2020 is still accepted. 2030 is the next std and the 2020 is no longer accepted. Seems reasonable to me although there are always complainers. Just don't buy the SA2015's that are on clearance now. That 25% savings is not worth it long term. M vs SA mostly means that SA has a fire retardant liner. M does not. There are also some other more minor differences.

For HPDE track days I just ordered a G Force Rift full face racing helmet thru Apex Performance for $249 and free shipping.
https://apexperformance.net/
My previous was a G Force as well, they fit very comfortably and are cheaper in price than most! Also have a G Force Jacket and gloves that I like as well.
Didn't realize until looked yesterday my previous helmet I purchased 9 years ago, was older than I thought!

Just arrived, fits and feels great! Apex Performance also gives a free helmet bag that is nice, highly recommended!
