My M-n-L gave me this old wooden model kit that at Christmas, I think she picked up at a garage sale sometime. She said she had it stored for years. She knows I build models so she figured it would interest me. It did! They show it to be all stained and varnished, but I couldn’t do that. I had to make it much more detailed.

That's super cool, I've never seen such a thing.

I hadn’t either. I had the other little wooden sprint car you can see beside it, but I bought it already built at a swap meet years ago. I don’t think it was a kit.
At first I wasn’t too excited about working with the wood. Once I got started though, it was a fun build.

Thank you sir.

Nice job, it does look like a cool project. I’ve never seen wooden model car kits my dad used to build them from scratch I have a car and a rack body truck a pick-up with a row boat on a trailer he built. Those I will always treasure

These are sweet! I made a perfect replica of my car and its mods from 5-6 Shelby 1:18 cars, mixture of GT500, Shelby GT, GT-H, GT, Bullitt and Boss models. I'll post up a pic

Vintage car Club of America, this one was from around 1985 or 86 iirc.

That’s funny your 1/1 looks more of satin type finish and your model is really shiny. My 1/1 is really shiny and my model came out satin finish.
Just an observation.
