Roger that on the sound tube. Many were deleting those, I can’t notice it really (hearing good but tinnitus) but will be using that direct connection from front of motor bay to interior (planned last year but didn’t do, meth/water injection) for wiring conduit. Yes, feel also one of those things you pay for but don’t want. Never could even take wild guess what that was.

Why are you adding water injection to a stock engine?
Thanks for asking CR. Goes way back… car would always perform better on a rainy high humid day. Return to 60’s never questioned a whole lot with our ‘67 Fastback. As years progressed and I had a Lil’ Red Express Truck, built my own WI. Not that difficult with carburation, used spray bottle nozzles, window washer reservoir and motor- best for last was triggered with commercial humidstat through gas pedal micro-switch. YES it worked, on a rainy day just sucked in air through 2 4” ram air intakes. Shut down for Winter of coarse, never mixed with wood alcohol.

So results…… I can’t say for sure, not going to lie about. Did or do because I like concept:
1) First developed by Germany for WWII aircraft, won’t question them.
2) Auto industry utilized as option late 50’s/early 60’s. What did they know?
3) They used glass containers like Mason jars.
4) Took off again in 80’s, Edelbrock offered complete install. Gee, not much different than my design (if you could call it that).
5) EVER REMOVE HEADS and with blown gasket leaking in antifreeze? That cylinder is spotless, looks brand-new.
6) Steam-cleaned… Only thing hi-test fuel does is eliminate pre-detonation. So what do you think adding water does? Same thing done but use regular fuels. That’s what it’s all about I always surmised?
7) Didn’t know until 10 years ago maybe that regular windshield washer is same difference as Meth/wood alcohol, way less expensive I’d think?
8) So I have a retro Edelbrock Water Injection system (had one in 80’s also). Results… how would I know (still in box out to wood shed), adaption for today’s TB’s not difficult with a Ford Performance TB spacer used for 90MM TB. No- doesn’t change intake dia. just moves TB forward with those and priced right (to mount injectors as NOS arrays).

If on other forum would love to see “the Wizard” knock this one apart CR, was usually wrong but not worth answering LMAO. Yes, use forum to retain mentality stability these days, Parkinson’s. Way overdone this A.M…

To answer the why still, idea is to get Sunoco 260 Performance with regular fuel??? They’re still out there today (Edelbrock’s not (E-Bay) but way costly. To paraphrase entire thing simply a project and hope can get back to this Summer again. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Water_injection_(engine)

Interesting project, do take pics and let me know how it goes. I’m pretty ancient outdated myself, and rely on the wealth of knowledge I find from the forums.

I’m well aware how water injection works, and I’ve seen it many times, but usually on cars with power-adders, and high compression engines, in combination with inferior fuels for street operation.

I considered it in the 70’s when I drove such a car, and had to stop at a local private airport for my fuels (I live only a 1/4 mi away so it was convenient). In the end, I didn’t go that route, and always thought it was interesting.

Yes, recalling now with my Lil’ Red I could use gallon of water a day 64 miles round trip pending on hills, speed, traffic. All depended how much you stepped on gas. About that time (‘79) everything going unleaded gas, can’t say about other states then on that.

Compression up from ‘79, 10? to 1 ratio these days. Also would allow engine to run more advanced timing if no ping detection (not ‘79 of coarse). And the problem of coarse was filling reservoir up all the time, got to be PIA and I’d drain out and secure for Winter. Replaced pump motor once, windshield washer grade. Believe it’s why such never took off much. And the pump could get stuck running continuous, all these ideas have bad side too.

So today looking at connection for tach reference RPM for Edelbrock controller. No single coil connection or points anymore. But wait… bought converter for that (MSD is it?) last year, I already thought of that, oh well.

Got way sidetracked with this but one thing led to other. Sorry for any ambiguity here.
