Hi Everyone. Here's an update.

Now that we're getting some weather that's cool enough to work outside, I've begun to look at actually putting the new TYC mountings in place.

Interesting problem: some of the nuts holding the bumper cover in place are pretty severely rusted. These are the ones inside the wheel wells.

Can I just use any nut to hold things in place, or is there a recommended automotive special?

If the nut is the correct size I don’t see where it would matter. Is the stud in good shape?

No. At least one was completely rusted out, so it must be replaced.

I'm mostly wondering about the material. Some sort of rust resistant material, or at least coated?

Just taking a wild ass guess, but mine almost seem like they’re galvanized or are coated
