Montreal Qc,
From what I have heard all of their blocks are bored 0.020 over right from the start.
If you run into any kind of problem there is no room to have it machined again for a second time.

We'll see how my MMR 800 shortblock works here in just a few days. Well...initial startup will be in a few days, final dyno tune in a week or two. Friend of mine has a MMR 950 stroker shortblock in his 03 Cobra and so far its been fantastic.

Yes, I realize there's a lot of negativity about MMR on the internets.

So far, my customer service experience has been good. Hopefully everything works out well.

Just say NO to MMR.

If you are looking into a motor, I'd suggest ProLine Racing Engines, Al Pappito at Boss 330, and LIVERNOIS motorsports.

Livernois is what I'd go with, actually.

One has to keep in mind that nomatter the company, there will be customers with good AND bad experiences. Wether it's MMR, or McDonald's.

MMR bores all the blocks .030 over not .020 so you pay for a brand new block and will not be able to rebuild it in the future as that is the most you would want to bore the block. I have one of their shortblocks and there is something wrong with the snout of the crankshaft. I can't stop oil leaking from the crank seal. I also had other problems with them and would not recommend them for anything.

I recently tore down an 1800mi motor that was purchased by a customer from said company, typical combo, Cobra crank, Manley rods and pistons and someone elses rings.

This engine was standard bore, with Ford line hone and cylinder hone marks. All bearing were standard sized. Rotating assembly appeared to be balanced.

It used all original fasteners through out including main caps.

This engine was broken in properly and ran the hone out of the cylinders as well as tore up the rings in very short order. Have a ton of compression issues.

Keep in mind you get what you pay for. Cheap is as Cheap does.

More in likely torque plates weren't used on the hone and incorrect stones on the ball hone ?

It was Fords hone, I am unsure of their process, but the cylinder walls were completly polished, leaving nothing to retain oil. This lack of oil and ring tension wore the rings pretty quickly.

I would have thought it obvious that people going for forged internals will be using a major power adder...

F MMR! Dons still waiting for his refund for a part that didn't fit. Also we are all still waiting to hear some answers from mmr in another thread. Once the questions started to roll in they bailed. No company is perfect but what they do after reply tells you about them.

Assumptions aren't always correct...

I won't say anything against MMR as they use the same parts most "big builders" do, and I have no personal experience with them to speak of.

Not to stand up for MMR, but thats usually an indication that the cylinder walls were fuel washed. I've never heard of this happening with a factory hone.
