John,
I Appreciate your input on the Bogarts.
I'm not sure it was here on S197 or another Site but some people were
like you driving with the Bogarts all the time.
And the comment was made that as long as you did not drive into
Pot-Holes at Speeds, No-Worries.

Maybe some other members will comment.........

Terry

I was the guy your probably talking to... lol Ive driven from my house to the track hour and a half away on my et streets and bogarts and back home in a day.... I cruise them every sat night in the summer hours at a time. Like John said avoid every pot hole and you have to be extra carefull

Now you guys have me thinking about getting a set of these for the street. :fu:

I'd love to run around on 15s everyday, but I want to save my Bogarts for the track only.

Ive been talking about having two sets of 15" rims for some time now lol... everyone thought I was on glue. Still need to buy my 2nd set of 15's :p Can't decide on black weld magnums or black hole shot revolvers.

These rims are very good on the wallet it add's to the apeal lol

Considering they are less than half the cost of Bogarts that isn't a bad idea, Don.
And might even be able to recoup part of it by selling my 17x9 bullits and tires. They are still in good shape.

Ditto... been something I've wanted to do for a long time. But to be honest, I would really like to have a set of old school Cragar S/S 15s for the street.

Hey SD... any updates of that possibility?

I did take a few Pics of the Race Stars while I was there last week.

They are going to have a set completely Mounted and Balanced to try on
my Bulitt so guess I will see at that point what I think.

I would like to run them if I can drive them on the street to anywhere I want to go without worrying about it. (Safety).

I'll be back there this coming Sunday so will see them on Monday morning.

Yeah good luck with that. Cragar isn't doing anything new. Race Star is the way to go now.
That's a bummer. Nothing screams muscle car to an old fart like me more than a set of Cragar S/S (except maybe the old "pizza pan" Centerlines!). Sure the Race Stars will probably be a good 15" street wheel, but I'm not gaga over the design. And from the looks in the pics above, I can't say that I'm overly thrilled with the oblong lug holes for a dual bolt pattern either (I'm assuming 5x4.5 and 5x5??)

Yes you can drive the on the street Race star have a load rating of 1200 on 15 x 3.75 & 15 x 5
and a load rating of 1580 on all the rest.

Can you drive around on the Street with the Race Stars and the
M/T 275/60/15 Rear & 26/45/15 Fronts ???

I am referring to driving "Thousands" of miles with them.

Example, Driving from one Coast to the other .........

I have read where "Some" members have driven with the "Bogarts" as
DD's and others say, Don't do that, Period.

I hate the dual lug pattern, that's why I ended up with holeshots. I plan on running them on the street since its just a weekend toy.

Can't wait to see the 275/60/15's mounted on the car. I plan on running the same tire on the street

Matt,

If you would like I will take several Pics of the wheels W/Tires on my Bullitt.
That is assuming, they have them ready to go on while I am there.
As you know a Bullitt is just a GT with the option package "Bullitt".
I will also this time take a heck of a lot better notes as to (Exactly)
what size the Front Wheels and Tires are.
Then the same for the Rear Wheels & Tires.

I don't think many of the members here are old enough to remember this
but way back we use to run V/W tires on the Front.
lol2.gif

I had a 1966 Shelby GT 350 Mustang and did that for awhile.
I guess we were not smart enough at the time to really question if it was
Safe or Not.

These Race Stars remind me of the Old ET Wheels (I-Think) that used the Uni-Lug.
I had a set of them on a 1966 Vette.

I hope the Race Stars have "Improved" on the Design all these many yrs. later.

Now that is Funny to read that you are doing that these days.
We used to do that many Moons ago ......

Actually, I'm surprised anyone would even remember that from back then.

My neighbor had a bright blue '66 Corvette 427 back in 1971 with the Cragar S/S wheels....15 x 4 in front and 15 x 10 std. in the rear. Man, that wheel and tire setup was the hot ticket back then for the street!

The race stars with those tires on your Bullitt will be bad-ass!!!

So can anyone find a 27" radial tire to fit the 17 by 4.5 wheel. Other than the M/Ts etc.. I want to run these on the street and not having much luck finding any. the 15" 165/80/15 sits too low on my car (less than 26").

I've been told they are drag radials for fwd cars and it makes sence, they are not in the front skinnies section and they do have a 17" front skinnie.
lol maybe they are but they work great as a skinny for my set, plus they have a good speed rating if they are ment for racing so in my books its a skinny
