I have them on my car and I can't complain. They seem to grip pretty well and are wearing good too. For the price they are hard to beat.

even if youre commuting/driving normally?

what's "normally"? LOL

I just realized when the temps dropped so did my impression of the traction. I put mine in storage during winter, but as it got colder I found a few surprises when getting on it "just a little".

I have them. 285/40-18 in the rear. They where great before I added the Turbe lol. They suck in cold weather with spirited driving.

Got a great deal on a set of GT500 take offs this fall but limited miles before winter arrived. Heard they aren't the greatest and do not like cold weather but should be an improvement over my stock tires.

I've sold several set's of takeoffs here, and I'm running them on my own car currently. I drive my car everyday, rain, sun, or snow. I'm really happy with them. Yes, they don't grip very well at all when they're cold (I have about 450 rwh), but I don't expect them to. They actually do better in the snow than I expected as well, so I have no complaints. They do really well in wet/rain conditions too, so they're a pretty all 'round tire. IMO.

I've been running new take off GT500 wheels & tires for 2yrs & 15k miles. They're not a bad tire, but (as has already been said) they don't grip worth a damn in the cold weather. You'll be fine commuting in them and unless you get on it, you'll never see what we're talking about.

*When the GT was my DD I would switch back to the OEM wheel / tires for winter, more to protect the wheels then due to any fears I had with using the tires in the cold.

Generally reviews are those tires are not great (check tire rack). They are not especially sticky, yet have a low tread wear rating. They should be fine for street driving, but not great for autocross, drag racing or road racing.

I have the GT 500 takes offs on my Shelby GT. The tires are good in the summer for the street and that is about it. I have only driven the car a few times in cold weather and the tires suck...You can not beat the price.

no problems, but again i dont see cold weather in south texas. these tires do last forever and have a good 200 tread wear. that is a good combination of grip and tire life. and the 255s are dirt cheap right now at tire rack. $116 each!

for summer street/track duty they are perfect. Treadwear on the tire is 220 so dont be surprised if they wear faster then what your used to.

Overall they are great tires and fill up the gap on stangs lowered on springs/struts great.

I appreciate the info fellas. I still have about 10-15k left in my stockers. I thought about picking up a set of these since they are so cheap. Looks like they might indeed be cheap.
