I was just wondering if any one has any thought on if this would work. My short block already has 4v pistons in it and that would be bad ass if the new heads and intake would bolt to it....

No, i dont think so, the 5.0 heads are completely new design mated up to a differnt block as far as coolant passage, oil etc, as well the the twin vct thing.

Yeah it is a completely new engine from the ground up. Shares nothing with the current mod motors besides bore spacing and a few bolts. They kept the bore spaceing the same to reuse some of the manufacturing equipment to save costs.

It's going to be interesting to see how many 5.0's end up in the 1st generation of S197's.

with the cost of a longblock to do it, plus motor mounts, possibly a new k member, ect its cheaper to build a forged SB and forget the 5.0

I can't wait to see how big the new 5.0's will be stroked to. I might try to find a junk yard one a year or so after there out and build it for my 06....

I thought that I read that there is no room in the new blocks for stroker cranks.

How about dropping in the 6.2 that will be in the SVT Raptor?

You are correct, the 19 page article on the new 5.0 mentioned that the piston skirt already comes too close to the crank to allow for any further stroking. It may have been phrased a little different, but that's how I remember it.

So much for that man! Haha, yet that wouldn't have happened anytime soon since i am 21. I figured, once i am out of college and into my radiography career well i would take out this motor and put a 5.0 in it. Hearing what i quoted you on, i have changed my mind. Plus isn't the new 5.0s high compression NOT boost friendly? It would be better off as a nitrous car??

My ultimate dream would be to slap a 521ci Ford big block under the hood and call it a day. 580hp and 600tq N/A is gross! The question is, years down the line- when looking at motors of that size how can you tell if it fits in the engine bay? When people start swapping random motors into a car, do they just hope it fits and if not- they just fabricate it to do so?

I am MUCH more interested in the shortblock than dealing with twice the cams and 4 phasers, chins to wear out and f' up!!
