Tune - Doug at Bamachips
Mods in sig..

I got my tune in August 2009, always knew it was running a little rich (you can smell the gas) as most email tunes do. A few days ago I popped a check engine code saying system too lean, i cleared it to wait and see if it would pop again.

Tonight after work I started it up and immediately I heard a pop pop and the idle seemed really choppy, I also noticed I had a check engine light. Two codes came up, system to lean (b1) and system too lean (b2).

My assumptions are the I ran too rich too long and fouled out my o2 sensors. Any one have any advice or suggestions? Could I really be running too lean even though I can smell the gas? Where should I go from here..

remove plugs /o2's and inspect. check for any exhaust leaks, maybe reload tune if it was fine before. if all else fails take it to a dyno to see if you are too lean.

I do plan on getting it dyno tuned relatively soon, but have any of you had this happen from running to rich before? Since this car is a DD would the car be decently safe to drive (Obvisously no WOT) until I can get it to the dyno?

You have checked to make sure your CAI has not slipped loose.
C&L Racers have a tendancy to slip at plastic tube to coupling
at TB, I ended up using a small flat head screw under band clamp
to keep in place, over tightening clamp distorts tube.

Just because it smells rich dont mean it is, running lean will smell just the same. You need to dyno it or put a wideband on it to know for sure. I thought the same on my old car and came to find out after the wideband it had been running lean the whole time.

Indeed I did and it was fine.

I see, I wasn't aware of that. I guess I'll have to get it dyno tuned soon then.
