accidentallyThey do, do they? That would be news to all of us who "accidently" got aluminum blocks in our 05+ Mustangs.

Did you notice my quote marks? That was intentional...accidentally![]()
Yah, don't think so.![]()
If a Camaro SS @ 4000lbs and 425HP can manage 13.0, I'm pretty sure a 3600lbs GT 5.0 @ 412HP can do high 12's. Plus when you look at what an S197 can do with very minimal mods + driver mod...
I agree with gene. I have a few buddies with eaton converversion machs. Low boost making around the 420 mark. they both run 12.3's. SO with some good driving and sticky tires i think mid 12s are very achievable
without a doubt.
my 10' went 12.8 with a cai, gears, and a flash and sticky tires this sunday. the track was unprepped and cold and still only pulling 1.8's. i know for sure i'll get 12.5's out of her in the next week or 2
with a 3.73 option on the new motor, the effective ratio should be close to the same on the new car, and with more power??? I'm making probably 2.80's if i had to guess, the 5.0 is gonna be making at least mid 3's, i'm thinking on dr's, at least 12.2's outta this car
I don't think we'll see the 2011's running 11s with so little mods. I can believe low 12s, but 11s is a little far fetched.
My engine block is platinum!

Your going to need taller tires to run 3.73 without a tune to trap in 4th in mineshaft air.
In mineshaft air the car should trap 115 mph (117 mph at finish line) which is going to put you at 7350 rpm (350 rpm past factory limiter) in 4th.
Showroom Stock with 3.55 these cars will go 12.4@115 sooner or later with nothing but a driver mod. Im not at all sure that 3.31 will be slower in stock trim. 3.73 will be great with sticky taller tires, a raised limiter or bad air (If you live at altitude you will want the 3.73.)
With 3.73, 27" Tall DR's, a Tune (Even if all it does it bump the limiter 500 rpm), good track prep and good air the car should get into the high 11's. Essentially this car should be 1.0 seconds faster than 05-10 in near stock trim.
I do have something thats bothering me.... Ford says 110% VE at 390 lb-ft of torque and also 100% VE at 6500 rpm which is only 412 bhp (333 lb-ft). Something their doesnt compute. A little math says that should be closer to 438 bhp... A non-linear increase in friction might explain it but 26 bhp worth? hmmmmm....Ford has been extremely conservative with their ratings since the '99 Cobra fiasco. Just makes you wonder....
The one monkey in the works may be the torque management (which I will be suprised if it doesnt have). If its as aggressive as it was on the LS2 Corvettes it might cost a lot of ET.
Some are uranium or plutonium... they blow up.Well, Ha My engine block is Titanium so There !!!!![]()
