style, name, quality, status go to BMW but for the price you cant be the mustang even before the 2011 mustang has been the best bang for the buck since 2005.

Yea if I was debating between the two i would go with the stang just because the numbers are very close except the price which is roughly half unless you are gluing for the status of saying you own a fucking BMW

you say that, but most mustang drivers are the owners...most BMW drivers are just leasing.

Good point and I believe more mustang owners will use the cars performance wise than the BMW leaser/owner would, they just use it for a status symbol

not that i dont love my pony, but the bmw has a more immaculate interior, and IRS...

and i would love it til i had to pay 100 bux for an oil change then id sell it and go get the ford hahaha.

My buddy at work has a 335i, he is leasing. He actually road courses his ocaisonaly. And it is the shop all the time, 2 bad fuel pumps, comp took a shit, ipod usb interface failed and some other electical gremlin hes dealing with now. You dont even wanna know what new oem tires cost.. I have drivin it and rode in it, its fun to drive once the boost hits full though lol, the interior is not that impressive, standard bmw lux you feel awkward and out of place like you shouldnt be touching anything. I was more impressed with the 2010 gt interior to be honest.

I work for BMW and have 2 Mustangs, enough said! Not impressed by the M's at all or the reliability!

I drove a 2010 M3 not long ago and give it props. Super nice car on the autobahn. It really depends on what you want. M3 owners are paying for

Those are numbers most related to drag racing... anyone buying an M3 to drag with has many screws loose. Most of the engineering money put into that car revolves around the suspension, the transmission (on DCT models) and the engine developing it's HP higher in the RPM band... my god, it has an 8200 redline. the car was designed for track racing. When I test drove, I had the 7-speed DCT. It was shifting before you could even think about it. Of course, it was a $3200 option, (I got the manual 6-speed).

Very true. and if you visit the forums, they are pretty proud of leasing... they say it best bang for the buck... I guess they plan on getting rid of the car after 3 years?


I had a 335xi before I got the M3 and I will say that the 335 has very nice torque down low, but the overall handling and interior is nothing compared to the M. It is really the nicest car I have ever owned. It is the most comfortable and most technically advanced. The biggest problems the 335s have had (in the first few years of procuction) was HPFP failures.

But I still love my stang. It gets more looks over here. It is also a handfull. No electronics getting in between me and the car (well, except the fucking throttle). I am constantly aware that it is up to ME to keep the damned thing on the road... the M3 can be a complete nanny (of course, you can turn that off, about 7 different levels).

edit: Let me point out the reason I picked up the M3 was 1) because I enjoyed the 335xi so much and 2) because I can get the car for ~$10k cheaper than MSRP ordered straight from the factory, including free shipping back to the states.

My friend was in the exact same boat. Ended up having to have BOTH turbos replaced, fuel pump issues, etc. He got it classified as a lemon and BMW gave him $49K for it.

He will be picking up his new Shelby in a couple of weeks, lol.

Anyways, that's a very solid comparison between the two cars. I'd obviously buy the Stang, but that M3 is a very nice looking car.
