I have every disconnected and off my S/C except for 1 last 10mm bolt holding it to the engine. It is the one under the blow off valve in on the passenger side next to the fire wall. The activator bar and lever attached to the BOV prevent me from getting a socket and a ratchet in that space. What I need is a 10mm universal joint socket but as no store in town has one, does anyone have any idea how to detach the BOV activator bar? I already took the BOV off, that game me a little more room but still can't get a socket on it and a wrench won't fit in the space either.

I just thought of another route, although it's not easy.

Jack the motor up and take the motor mounts out. Ease the motor down to tip it forward enough to have better access back there.

A 10 MM wrench cut in half works. I also ordered one of these, AFTER I did my install.

http://buy1.snapon.com/catalog/item.asp?P65=&tool=hand&item_ID=67268&group_ID=141&store=&dir=catalog

*edit* IF you try the 10mm wrench cut in half trick...get some thread or small string and cut about 6ft of it. Tie one end to the wrench, the other end somewhere up top. you WILL drop it at least once...as me how i know...

How about a 10mm crows foot?

That socket in the link is exactly what I went all over town looking for today.

I normally use a vacuum pump to hold the boost valve up out of the way and a cut off 10mm wrench to remove that bolt.

Be careful you don't round off the head of the bolt or then you will be screwed

This idea might be the way I have to do it. What a pain in the ass though.

I think I'd rather just buy a crows foot before doing that. I already unbolted the BOV so it is up out of the way already. I used a zip tie at first to hold it up.

I havent tried a crow's foot. It might work.

You aren't going to find that socket anywhere, around any town. I spent all day looking for one too.

Just due to the fact that that particular bolt has caused me so much greif already, I am going to be removing the motor mounts and tipping it the motor forward if I have to take the S/C off for any reason. At least all those bolts are easy to get to. Even with the shallow ujoint socket, it can be a PITA if the bolt head is turned just the perfect way to start with.

Not trying to tell you what to do, but I wouldn't suggest using a crowsfoot wrench to initially loosen the bolt as you will probably round off the head of the bolt. If you're going to use a crowsfoot wrench, loosen the bolt first with a box end wrench.

Napa had a set in 3/8 drive form. Cost me $51 and the stupid 10mm socket is like less then 1mm too tall to fit.

Hmm, I hadn't thought of that. I might be cutting a perfectly good 10mm wrench.

Just take a 10mm combination wrench and cut it to the correct length. Then use the box end of the wrench to remove the bolt.

I was able to zip-tie the arm up, giving me just enough room to get a wrench on there.

Geez.... that I don't remember. My selection of metric tools is limited, so it must not have been too fancy.

If length is the problem, buy a cheap wrench and cut the end off.

Good luck!

That is looking like the way I am going to go.

I zip tied the arm up. Then just used my 10mm wrench. I didn't have any problems with it fitting or anything. It was about a 4" wrench....

When I just installed my buddy's Saleen, I used the 10mm wobbly socket. I found it at my local Sears Hardware in an obscure part of the socket display. I initially overlooked it, lol!

I used a zip tie to hold open the BOV and used a few extensions to get a weird angle. I was able to finally get myself in a position where I could swing the ratchet easily and not have the extensions at an extreme angle. It took a few tries before I could find that money position. Once I did, it was easy!

A wobbley socket would be awesome. I saw them on Amazon. Trust me, none of the stores here had them. I even tried sears.
