Congrats to Justin and the guys at JPC! It was great seeing your "race" car cruising around OCMD all weekend :) I was showing my wife the video of the car on my phone and she spotted it cruising by a few minutes later

Actually, I have no desire to buy an '11. I guess if you have no intention to go to either shop then you can appreciate what they're doing, but that doesn't mean you should give them your business. How fast they got an '11 to run should not mean that's the best place to take your car. From a customer stand point, I can't stand JPC. That is all. Nice dyno numbers, where are the ET's?

Do you have any first hand experience dealing with JPC? They did my blower install and tune, along with a few other things. I have nothing but great things to say about them. Justin's really friendly, the quality of the work was topnotch and were always prompt in responding to me if I had any questions. Again, unless you had a bad experience with them maybe you shouldn't take a shot at them.

Yeah, you could say I had a bad experience.

Killer! Any other changes? Gears?

And I think these rods are proving to be stronger than everyone thinks. Definitely stronger than the previous 3V rods, as have been shown.

I dont know.. there have been many 3v that can run 100 shot. I want to see when you start hitting 130-150 extra hp like most SC will put out and see how long that lasts...unless we do like saleen and have people spend $6-7K for 4psi =-/

The rods lasting at this power level in a track car vs. lasting on the street is completely different.

Meaning SCT has no firmware for shops to tune with.

Saying a car is tuned via a SCT handheld is not possible

I have gotten 2 calls today about getting a car tuned and its not possible till SCT has firmware to use so we can tune these cars.

I know that no one has the software. No one has claimed they were using SCT software though. It's much deeper than that. :roflmao:

Yeah, you could say I had a bad experience.
shit happens. sometimes someone falls through the cracks.

when i lived in VA there were people who swore by MAS Racing and would not let Steen Racing change their oil. Yet the opposites true with others.

ive often found if someone has a problem with a particular shop (esp one with a solid rep like JPC) its usually the person more than the shop.

Yeah the track is where it's proven. The street isn't nearly as hard on them as the track is. When/where on the street do you launch at 6k and power shift it through 130 mph all in the same run, and then come around and do it again, and again? See what I'm saying...

I happen to have some recent experience with this... Two weeks ago I installed a smaller pulley on my supercharger on my '05. With a little race fuel mixed in I took it out one night and terrorized the streets. Powered up every on ramp and banged all the gears I could. No problems at all. The next night I took it to the track with no changes. Second pass a rod let go halfway through 2nd gear and put a hole in my block. I'd be surprised it was making over 450rwh. It was fine on the street, but the track really puts the stress on them.

You're forgetting about the extra 100 HP the '11 GT is already making over the 3V. So throw a 200 shot on a 3V and then we'll talk about them being the same.

How do you figure? Ford BUILT the 4.6L 3V to handle 300 hp. Ford BUILT the 5.0L 4V to handle 412 hp.

I strongly disagree, your forgetting to factor in MANY variables.

My point exactly. Everyone is saying the rods have a similar breaking point. If the 5.0L is running mid 10's and making 550rwh, it clearly has better/stronger rods. Not saying they're the greatest, and not saying it's not on the edge, just saying they're proving to be better/stronger than the 3V rods.

Such as? I think you're thinking of Dyno vs street. Obviously the street put a much higher strain on the powertrain than the dyno does. However, the track tests parts far more than the street does. That's why every racer out there upgrades from all the stock parts. The stock parts are great on the street, but at the track they're just not strong enough.

It's funny to see this thread just get all mucked up. I don't know Fred and never dealt with him in any way. I've been dealing with Justin for years now and he's been great. Nothing but respect and deals on goods. The JPC crew have treated me very well. This thread was intended to rejoice at the new 5.0 and JPC legitimately hit 10's first, period.

I'm sure Fred is a good guy and I've heard great things about them and the GT500's. As far as I'm concerned EVO is the shop that has dominated the GT500's. Justin has dominated the 3 valve and it's that simple to me.

Now, let's see who's going to dominate the 5.0 market and let's all drink a fucking beer.

thats what im referring to. :2g1c:

I know John Lund has the Ford tools to "crack" the PCM with and make adjustments but it is NOT avail thru SCT so your avg shop cannot make changes yet. I have a unlocked file but the changes we can make are VERY minimal and would never claim we could tune a 2011 as of yet.
