what gears do i have in my car??

i ordered a rapid spec 300a gt 5.0 6spd (base model GT).. the salesman told me that car had 3.55 gears, but im looking at my window sticker and it doesnt say anything about the gears??

There's a sticker on the rear end housing that will tell you what gear you have.

shouldnt the window sticker say waht gears it has?? i wonder if it just has the "stock" gears in it since the 3.55's and 3.73's are an option.. so i wonder what the stock gears are?? i dont have the car yet..LOL

Your window sticker had no gear option so it will have 3.31 gears.

well that blows.. i will be SURE and bring that up before i sign anymore paperwork, and see if they will put 3.55's or 3.73's in before i take delivery.

ya no shit right? however the salesman told me that it had 3.55's in it.. and if it doesnt, then i guess he better make sure that it does!! that is about the ONLY chance i have at getting them installed..LOL not to mention they kinda screed the pooch on this deal, so im hoping that i can get them at no charge.

You might actually like the 3.31's with the new 6 speed. With 1'st gear being so much lower than the 5 speed tranny it will feel like having 3.55's.

well IF i get him to have my gears swapped out at no charge, then i would just opt upto the 3.73's or 4.10's. i know the price of the 3.55's and 3.73's are the same ($395) not sure about the 4.10's though IF i could even get those. i want the lower gears though. this car will be a weekend toy, and see the dragstrip quite often im sure.

They didn't offer the 4.10 stock, so you'd have to get them via FRPP. Then, the speedo would be off, unless you get a performance tune that compensates for it; The dealer's computer flashes likely won't allow them to set the speedo for a 4.10.

ya im kinda figuring that to.. im sure it will end up only being 3.73's.. better then 3.31's though!

you have 0 chance of getting them to pay for your gears. If you don't take the 5.0, there will be someone else waiting to, possibly for more money.

i dont care.. i will take my chances.. fact is, the salesman told me the car allready had 3.55's if i wouldve known it only had 3.31's i would have opted for 3.73's when it got here. well see! i will keep everyone informed of my failure to get something besides 3.31's..LOL

Other way around man steeper gears are gonna feel lower with the 6 speed vice in the 5.

That's what I was saying. With first gear being lower in the six speed vs the five speed it will feel like having 3.55's.

havent signed the actual loan "contract". the car isnt here yet STILL. i have since found another spec 300a same color and everything w/ 3.73's. just so happens to be the same price as this car im waiting for that has 3.31's, i told my salesman today AND i could have this other car by thursday for sure.. only kicker is it will have 700 miles on it instead of 200 like the car im waiting for. i think i will wait and see if the 1st car is here the 23rd (scheduled delivery date) and then i will see what happens. if its not then i may opt for the car that allready has 3.73's from the factory.

Go for the factory 3.73 car ... Even if the dealer swaps them it probably wouldn't be covered under the factory warranty ...

trust what you were told here. Just because the salesman made a mistake and told you it had 55's does NOT mean that the dealer will install them for free!! It will never happen. He will apologize and tell you he made a mistake and call it a day. Its up to you to make sure its got what what you want
