Well I figured since I have time and ambition to do it I figured I would clean up the car and try out the mothers clay bar so far I like the results. Plus it gives me a reason to drink lol. So what is your guys favorite wax/bar to use?

I tried the Mothers clay bar this spring on my mustang, I liked it so much that I used it on my 2010 F250. I ended up using the cleaner wax included and then went over it again with another Mother's wax but I don't recall which one.

I use Mothers California Gold kit, but thats only because I could never find Meguiars clay. If you can get Meg clay separately, do that and just use their Ultimate Quick Detailer as the lube.

Well I'm done and it turned out great. So how long until I have to do it again? Also did I over use the lube or did you also use almost the whole bottle?

Well, I dont use up a whole bottle. You cant "overuse" the lube but you sure can waste a lot.

How often is determined by your conditions. Is it garage kept? Daily driver? Are you in a polluted city? Does it see weather? Rain, snow, etc? Once year would be a good baseline. Twice if you daily drive in lots of weather with shitty polution. It also is dependent on how well you protect the paint afterward.

My routine is:

Wash with Lysol Lemon liquid.
Clay and NOT bother to wipe off the residue. Youre just abrading the paint unneccessarily.
Wash again with Megs Deep Crystal wash to rid the clay residue.
Polish with Megs #7
Seal with Megs NXT
Wax with Megs #26

Add wax as needed in between intervals.

Fuck yeah. Im actually overdue for that whole process again. I last clayed late summer 07, the year I got the car. I think. Ive only got 5400ish miles and its garage kept. But, Ive washed a few times since then so its just time to do it. Ive got some water spots from when I had to wash in the sun once to remove a lot of "barnyard spew" that had dried in.

Also, keep in mind, Im the guy who "took the car apart" to clean it when I first got it. Fascias, wheels, rocker trim, rear side markers, bumper supports, inner fender trim, etc.

I just finished claying mine about 20 minutes ago. Its a very tedious process.

I didn't mind doing the clay bar. As long as you have beer it's not bad I averaged about a beer a panel

Heres my approach but don't do this very often, maybe @ the begiining of a show season. Wash with bucket of dawn detergent & water. Then I change the water & soap solution using dawn once again. Then I clay the car/truck using the dawn solution as the lube. Then wash car & rinse. Then apply a good wax, perferably 1 without any cleaner so you can layer it, the more coats the deeper it will get. Remember the dawn detergent will remove all the old wax buildup so you need to rewax it after the final wash.

I used the meguiars kit on mine, love the results, I ended up using up a whole bottle of spray, I just did it last month, and probably going to do it again soon, just because im sure the previous owner when i got the car did not do it at all.

Just did mine with the Meguiars kit as well. Great product and it's the second or third time I've done the GT.

Sorry for the Cell pic, but you get the idea.

Other than the brand of soap, this is exactly how I do mine. I always get lots of compliments on the results.

Do you guys ever use a buffer or some kind of electric polisher? I remember as a kid my dad would always "compound and buff" his cars using an orbital polisher with a cover he was always changing out.
