Hi, I've thrown a parts at my 2006 4.0 car to get it to run to no avail and the next step is to change my fuel pump and filter. I also need to take the tank out and clean it. I can't figure where to put the jack stands on the rear. I plan on leaving the front on the ground so it will be at an angle. I need the stands to be out of the way from removing the tank. I tried internet searching and spent two hours with co pilot and my conclusion is I can't trust them for my safety. Co pilot said to put a 2x4 on the jackstand under the pinch weld which sounds sketchy especially at an angle and I wouldn't want the pinch weld to crack the 2x4 along the grain. The u shape on the jack stand will damage the car with nothing on it. Another site said under the axles and co pilot said to not put it under the axles. Not even sure if under the axles would still give tank removal clearance. Also, anything I should know about removing the gas tank? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
