It's fairly simple...and it looks like it won't come out b/c of how it sits against the glass but it pops out real easy. Each side is is i think 3 pins each..

He was quoting something I had done for track days.. and it can be done on the street as well as water would not effect this in any bit. The black plastic pieces that lie under your wind shield wipers.. there are 2 of them. Their held in by push pins ( the black annoying ones ). Simply remove the pins and pull the pieces off. You don't need to remove the wind shield wipers in order to achieve this.
Isn't the cabin air filter stuffed under there?

No sir.. it's where the air comes from but not there when you remove that piece.. you see straight to the floor.. it's the hole between the fake and real fire wall

Ahhh OK cool - thanks for clearing that up. I'm going to have try this the next time I'm on track. :thumb:

I have the gt500 front. I think i remember someone doing this but cant find it.

Would it be a good idea to shave the back part of the top grill?
The gt500 has a square opening in the front but the sides are covered. Would it be a good idea to shave off the back in order to open up the grill all the way?

What would this do for air flow. I can only assume i will have more hood flutter due to higher pressure under the hood.

Removing those 2 pieces of plastic will help reduce the hood shudder by getting rid of the air pocket that is created in the middle of the engine bay. It creates a cowl hood basically without having to buy one.. which helps in cooling and also helping out come out

im not getting any hood flutter anyways. But wouldnt it create MORE hood flutter since more air is entering into the bay where it builds up and creates high pressure? or is that wrong

also, what tool would i use to shave off the back portion.
Take a photo of it and post it up.

Not sure about hood flutter, but it ought to definitely help with cooling.
I've also seen guys open the center up even more by cutting sections of the grill itself out, turning 2 or 4 small openings into single, bigger openings.

Well, seeing as stock their is no real exit for the air it creates a pressure system in the stock setting. With removing that piece.. it allows the air to come in over the motor and leave.. acting as a cowl hood does.

I guess that is why mine runs so cool - The Roushcharger just dumps fuel in at top revs. :)

I just finished two back to back track days and today the temperature was 33C/92F. The sessions were 20 minutes long and the temp gauge didn't move off the centre.

Coming of the track and immediately lifting the hood there was little heat under the hood - not like the 2011 next to me which had a lot.

Whatever Roush does it works in hot weather.:)

Sweeper, you thought of doing the 2010 GT500 vent mod yet?

Yes I've thought about it and keep planning to find the thread showing how it was done but so far have not found time to find it.

I'm much more concerned about under hood temps in stop and go daily use than on the track and think that mod should help.

Yeah I had to sign up with my work email. You can READ the forums without signing up, though; you just can't view a lot of the attachment pictures.

I donno if this was to me or Sleeper lol But I've looked at it here and but I haven't seen much reason to.. for engine temps wise b/c i'm not boosted or anything like that. Though i am looking into expending the the CAI box so the Maf isn't being like the hottest thing on my intake.. it's insane seeing how hot JUST the Maf is in comparison to the rest of the intake.. and thats on the Steeda intake with their 90mm Maf.

CC is probably the best overall place on the net for tech, automotive or not..seems like most guys there are sporting some form of Mustang, and there are a lot of knowledgeable people. Lots of information to absorb but god help you if you can't use the search button effectively or write clearly..but frankly I like it like that as it keeps the riff-raff out and the signal to noise ratio high.
