As a USAA member I can get an awesome deal on a 2011 Mustang GT. $800 below invoice plus $1500 cash. For a 2011 base GT with 3.73 option, I was quoted over the phone, just under $27,000. Now have to convince the wife.

The only issue is that I still owe $11,000 on my current car. I would get screwed on the trade in because I have nearly 87,000 miles. I could put in on auto trader or cars.com and see if could get $13,000 to 14,000. I know dealers won't pay more for a modded car but I may get luck and find a buyer.

You should part your car out, I'll buy your driveshaft, cams, underdrive pulleys and delete plates

Traded in my 07 gt with 45,169 miles, left the mods on ( kept the handheld tuner) and talked them into giving me $18k. Right now dealerships are hurting to sell cars so stick to your guns. They offered me $14k trade and a monthly payment of $565.....I walked out of there with a $36k car for $18k and a monthly payment of $298 @ 4.2%

The 07 being paid for helped alot though, lol.

So you are willing to go into more debt just for a base 5.0?

I think it was Kearny Pearson Ford that called but I am sure helller would have the same deal.

Not all Ford Dealers are in the USAA loop. The closest one to me was 90 miles away in Florida.

This is why I've been preaching using USAA if at all possible. I don't think you can get a better deal on a new Mustang anywhere. Mine listed for $36k and I was OTD, taxes and everything, for $32,650.

Also, don't forget Craigslist. I sold my previous car on there in less than a week. I've sold two other cars on there as well in less than a week. Just make sure you use a disposable email addy.

You can usually get a better rate with a credit union or your personal bank. I always compare all my options but ended up with ford credit on the 11

Why the hate for Ford credit?

To be perfectly honest....I'm not sure if it was Ford or if it was that annoying pissant in the finance office at Joe Myer's Ford. Kept telling me I needed to put $5K-$8K down on the car even though I had a credit score of 755. We went back & forth for three weeks until I finally went to my banker at Wachovia. She wrote it up at 3.25% for 60 months in less than fifteen minutes.

Went back to the dealership and the pissant showed up downstairs saying, "Glad you brought the car back so I didn't have to come repo it myself." So I punched him in the mouth. While he was picking himself up off the floor a very good looking young lady appeared and said, "I can get this written up for you Mr. Wheeler....please follow me." I stepped on pissant's hand and followed a very nice round ass up the stairs where we signed a hundred stacks of paper and I left with my car. Week later we won FFW Houston in Ultra Stang with the paper tags still on the car.

So....I love my banker even though they are now Well's Fargo. Ford credit did screw up my deal way back when I had my black '98 GT. I kept paying the monthly note along with an extra $100 towards the principal amount. After a year I noticed they were not applying the extra towards the principal amount but were deducting it from my next month's payment. Fought with them for another three months before it was straightened out. A month later when my tax refund showed up I paid it off and told them to fuck off.
