Make CMCV DPs?

Would it be that hard to do? I know removing the butterflies will leave holes that need to be plugged but are there any other problems that would have to be fixed? What would be the best way to fill the holes, a weld?

There use to be someone that did this. Not sure if it was on here or another forum. I think he charged like $70 to make the modifications if you sent him your plates. He charged a core charge if you didn't, this was refunded when you sent the cores to him. And I think he did weld the holes up then machine it to match.

I thought larry_h offered to do this - don't know if he still does, but either welding or appropriate epoxy (temp range, fuel tolerance) can be used to fill the holes...

It's one of those projects that you will likely spend more trying to do it yourself and possibly screwing up than having someone else do it or just buy the deletes... It's too bad Steeda abused the patent system to stop Ford from pulling parts from the assembly line and selling them "unfinished"...

I filled the holes in mine with JB Weld. I dis-assembled them. Took a dremel with a round headed rotary file, and made 2 dimples 1/8" deep in each shaft hole to keep the epoxy plugs from being sucked into the motor if they ever got loose. It's been 1 1/2 years since I've done this with no problems.

JB Weld makes me a little nervous. I think I'll weld them if I do it. I'm sure its going to be a lot of work to get around spending $150 but I hate to buy something that I could just put some time into and mod myself.

i know a welder how can do this reasonable...i can take my plates over with the butterflies and have him weld up so you can send him yours for a fast swap if you like

Thanks hotairgypsy but i think I'm going to do it myself. Worst case is I have to go buy the deletes.

No, its a pretty "obvious extension of prior art" that they patented there... Just remove the butterflies and shaft and fill the holes...

yea or you will get a p151a error code after every startup even though the code shows it to be an o2 issue.
