my experience as a bench racer far outweighs my real world track experience (maybe 10 runs on a strip). So forgive my sounding like a noob but:

Could someone run through it with me how i should be launching my car (when it has a motor in it again haha). I have a 2 step, but cant do anything but bog or spin. Are you guys dumping the clutch or riding it awhile? When you pick a rev limit for the 2 step, is your foot to the floor? Or just enough to keep it at the rpms desired? because basically im realizing anywhere in first gear foot to the floor = spin.

It's tricky with a stick shift car if you're not on slicks. The first thing you need to find is the best rpm for how your car is set-up, for my car on the 275-50-17 M&H's it was 3000rpms. As soon as both cars have lit the 2nd amber bulbs press the clutch down to the floor and mash the gas pedal, the 2-step will hold the rpms at whatever you set it at. You need to be quick on the clutch but don't dump it since that will shock the tires and break them loose so you want to do a quick slip with the clutch.

It takes practice but once you get it the car will be much more consistent.

EDIT:If you're on slicks or bias-ply tires you can pretty much dump the clutch. The trick is to find the rpm that works best to get between 1-2 revolutions from the tire before it grabs.

Here's my 10.94 run in car video. If you listen when I launch you'll hear the slight slip I had to do with the clutch until the car got going.

I needed to hear this. Gonna try it on Saturday. Thanks.

Guess I should put my most recent one in here then. Car was damn dirty but the air up there was great! Just another 3500rpm launch but now the battery is in the trunk and the car has a roll bar which seemed to keep it more level on the lift.

for me to get air under the tire all it took was the qa1 rear shocks set at full loose.

This thread has given me inspiration.
4.10's, CAI, Tune, CMDP delete, 3000 stall, aluminum driveshaft, lca's, squishy springs, a/c mufflers and spare tire delete, I think all I need is more weight off the nose and slicks.
