Well, the preliminary assessment says fixable. The guy said that NV laws are a little different. A third party company determines the value of the car. He saw all the work done and the $30K parts list and said we won’t even be close to the total zone. He said the glancing blow, even with the twisted body panels, that none of the crumple zones were affected and the Rails look straight and intact. He even figured in a little time on the frame rack for a pull and sway. We even added in the side scoops, window louvers and gen v taillights.

So I think I’m going to be in the clear. Jessica will be brought back to life.

Awesome to hear! I always get weary when a car isn't totaled out as they are never the same after being fixed, but your car doesn't seem to be that bad.

Good to hear. Sorry you're going through this to begin with.

That sucks.... If it was my car, even though I love it and have done lots of work to it I'd probably have to sell it. If fixed I'd hate driving it knowing it had been damaged.

I'll never understand this sentiment, do you feel the same when an engine, transmission, or rear end fails? Is it no longer pure enough for you? It's an object, if it can be fixed, put it back together and use it.

I should have been a little more clear. I meant to say if the frame is tweaked I would not keep it. If frame is ok then it's a different story. They are never the same even if you straighten em. Most say it's ok, to me I don't want it. The engine, trans or rear end is not a fair comparison....

I have no issue with modifying a car, I've made many modifications including cutting 5 inches out of the back of my front fascia. I run it on the track and get rubber marks and rock chips, I don't tape off the front my car like some do, to me those marks give it character... I don't buy track day insurance as I'm willing to take that hit if I wreck it... I love my Roush yes, but when it comes down to it, it's just a car. If the same happened to me as OP I'd have not issue totaling it....

Glad to see it is getting fixed.

I went through the same thing 3 years ago. A kid rear ended me in a 4-runner. Didn't even have the Procharger on for a week. I was so pissed I wanted to strangle him. Luckily they fixed it.

Thanks for the moral support guys. We should know more after the 3-day weekend as far as time frame goes.

No, not a Boss. Back in 07 there was no such thing as a Boss so I didn't mind the graphics. After they started making the Boss again I have always wanted to remove them. BUT, the graphics package came out of Larry Shinoda Motorsports in LA so I'm not a total poser. If I wasn't currently unemployed I would just fork over some cash and have them shoot the whole car and do something different but I gotta stretch the funds for a little while.

I'm 53. I've had dozens of cars and bikes over the years. Some totally stock and some that were highly modified. Many of my girls have had tragic endings and and financial loss. But whether I crashed it, lost interest, or blown it up, it was always by my hand or my fault. I can accept my mistakes and the costs associated with it. But this was the first time that someone else's stupidity was going to cause such a great loss. It would have been a hard pill to swallow.

As far as having a clean car or an unwrecked car it would matter what the end intention of the car was. I have never had the intention of selling this car for a number of reasons, so as long as she drives straight and is mechanically sound (and fast) I wouldn't care if the frame was repaired or whatever. I've had a bubble/dent in my hood for years from a split blower belt. Don't care. I'm not saying I don't care about what my ride looks like, we all want our shit looking the best, but it's not a show car. Right now she is my daily, but as soon as I finish my current build and get another daily, she will go back to being a weekend warrior. And when the kid is mature enough, I will let him have it if he wants.

Hey. I'm new here but I hear you about the newer Mustangs. I just can't get my head around them. I bought a 2008 GT in 2012 drove it for 4 1/2 years (lots of low maintenance fun at the local track), then decided I needed a truck so I traded it for a Tundra. The minute I got home I kicked myself for trading it. Then I was driving by the Ford dealer and they had just taken a cherry 2008 in on trade. Only 20K miles. It took me 2 months to get them down to my price but they eventually caved. If you really like the S197s hold the insurance company's feet to the to the fire, buy it back, take your parts off or have it repaired. I would really be surprised if you are happy with it when you get it back from the shop. Look around for a low mile car and swap your parts onto it. Good luck.

Sorry to hear about the damage, but I’m glad things are looking up. I always enjoyed seeing your car on MM. It’d be a shame if she was a total loss.
