I'm back. Best available option on a new rear end

I've taken an 8-10 year break from the forum. My car has been in storage for the last 10 years and I want to make it a daily driver again before I go buy a new 5.0. One thing I need to do it make it drivable. When I used to drag race my car every weekend I definitely messed up my rear end...

Been gone a while, clutch time

So I've gone a while from the forum since the heyday of the S197. Don't really drive the car anymore, have 110k miles on the stock clutch. I need to do the TSB for the grinding flywheel noise and I might as well have the clutch done at the same time. I read some stuff that people are sticking...

    Anybody got snow brush?

No that isn't 2 Expeditions parked next to each other. My car has about 50" of snow on top of it, I think maybe I should clear it off. Good thing for the Noah cover. That snow probably weighs 1000 pounds and probably isn't good for the suspension.

    Complete antenna delete

I'm going to be getting striped painted this year and was thinking of completely removing the antenna mount and mast. Patch the hole and paint it over. Has anybody done this? Did you use one of those antennas that stick to inside the back window?

    Winter storage

Anything I should do other than taking the battery out and hooking up to a maintainer? Should I put fuel stabilizer in? Taking the car off the road today, I've never shut it down for winter before.

    Car cover

Can somebody recommend a weatherproof car cover for the 05 that I can leave out in the snow? I'm willing to spend the cash if it will put up with the elements and it will last. Thanks.

Be careful ordering take off suspension parts, got screwed

I ordered all "2005-2009 Mustang GT" takeoff struts shocks, and 4 springs from Saleen for a good deal at $130-ish. I get my car to the garage, take the whole front end apart to get the strut assemblies out of the car. I disassemble both pairs of the old struts/springs on the spring machine...

Any springs that won't make me adjust suspension?

I have to get a front alignment bad. Before I do that I want to replace my front struts and springs. Which of the spring kits out there won't make me do any suspension geometry changes? (pinion angle, etc) Other than stock springs of course.

    Car dead, help!

I just changed my oil. I put the key in to start the car, turn the key and press the engine start button and all power in the car goes dead. I heard the starter turn over and then bam it was dead. All the power in the car turns off for like 20 seconds then comes back on. Weirdest thing ever...

value of a broken electric water pump?

I have a WP347 water pump that needs the idler pulley replaced ($75 cost for them to fix and send it back). What do you think I could get for it if I sold it broken?

Heard a bad squeak and traction light came on

This morning on the way to work i heard a loud squeak coming from the right rear as I made a right hand turn. I pull in the parking lot and do a circle in the right direction and the squeak/grinding got loud and then the traction control light on the dash and message center came on saying...

Mezeire belt pully bearings went, bypass?

The bearings on the serpintine belt pulley are toast. I'm not spending another 300 on a new meziere. Has anyone tried to bypass the water pump pulley? Using a steeda UDP? What belt length?

    Whistling sound at idle?

I have this whistling sound coming from my engine bay when the car is idling. Sound is there when I start moving too, but I hear it most at idle. Sounds like I have a centrifugal supercharger but my engine is stock, you know that whisling sound. First thing I thought it could be is a vacuum leak...

Front wheel bearing toast! High mileage woes

My car has been vibrating like crazy lately. I thought it was the bad bearings in the rear end making the driveshaft vibrate. Ended up being the right front wheel hub assembly. I guess after 81k miles it's gonna happen. Stock clutch is still good though, knock on wood

    Front Rotor Removal?

So after 4 years and 80k miles my front brakes have had it. I got some factory takeoff rotors from newtakeoff.com for 66 shipped. My problem is going to be taking off the old ones. I've never had any luck with the sledgehammer technique. What I do have is one of those disc rotor removal claws...

Rear end #4 is toast, solid spacer?

The pinion bearings are acting up. I'm pretty sure they moved because either the crush sleeve compressed or it didnt get torqued right. It started off making nose just when I pushed in the clutch and it's gotten progressively louder. No vibration yet or anything but I know I'm going to have to...

    Timing belt

Has anybody changed theirs themselves? My car is about to roll 80k miles so it's time to start thinking about doing it. Do you need any special tools? Should I just have somebody do it for me? I saw Ford sells a timing belt kit with the chains and new tensioners I'm a little nervous about...

    05-10 17" wheels w/Mickey Thompson 3743s

I have a set of the factory 17" machined rims with almost brand new Mickey Thompson 3743 tires mounted on them. They're not the drag radials, they're the biasply version. I've made 10-15 passes on them, they're good for 150-180 passes at least. The rims are in OK shape. They do have a few small...

How long do slicks last in storage?

I have a set of ET streets with less than 15 passes (lost track) on them mounted on some factory 17" machined wheels. I used them 4 times two years ago, once last year and I don't know if I'll use them this year. Do these things deteriorate over time? I don't want them to be unsafe. Maybe I'll...

    Timing chain?

My girl just turned 70, yes she's getting old! Anyway how easy is it to change the timing chain? Do I need any special tools for it? I'm not going to get it done now, probably in the spring but I wanted to psych myself up for it now.
