03 gt programmer on 09 gt

I have google searched and forum searched and cant find anything about my question. Will a sct x3 off of an 03 gt work on my 09. I know the tune itself will not work but can I just get the programmer and get it formatted or something for mine for cheaper than paying to unlock the one I have. (a buddy of mine has one off of his 03 I can have.) So the tuner it self will be free

It should be compatible. The X3 will work on 1997 to 2012 models. I think.

Yes it will work long as it's unlocked. If his SCT that he is giving you is locked, it will cost $150 to send to SCT to get unlocked, plus shipping.

yea he sold his car without the tuner and doesnt need it so i gave him 50 bucks for it

Thought you got it for free. Free or not...if it's not unlocked you will have to send it back to SCT for unlocking which is $150.

I understand about getting it unlocked.. If I was aware of that then I wouldnt be getting another tuner due to mine being locked as stated above... and he changed his mind about giving it to me and gave me the tuner for fifty which is still better than the one fifty to get it unlocked..

lol no biggie.. I didnt exactly make it clear. I just reread the first post and it doesnt make sense... But another question. Looking at this tuner now it doesnt say x3 like my other one does. It just says sct power flash but it looks just like my other x3. Is this going to be a problem if it is a sf3? or are they the same? Also how can i erase the tunes on tuner i just bought? I went to sctflash.com but couldnt find it.

the 50 dollar one.. it came from an 03 and mine is a 09 so i need to erase the tunes. but my locked tuner says x3 powerflash on the front and the 50 dollar one doesnt.

Well...the locked X3 (if it's for the appropraite year) may have preloaded tunes on it and may be the better choice.

If you use the 03 and send it to SCT...I'm not sure you will be able to use it on your 09.

Im not goin to send it to sct. I emailed sct and they said the tuner was fine as long as i get new tunes. But I told them it was an x3. I will email them tomorrow and get it straight.

You'd know what the tues were and perhaps get custom ones from BAma or someone for $150 I think..might be a better route with the 03 tuner.
