'05/'06 oil temp sensor question

I have an '06 with the factory oil temperature sensor in the pan. Does the sensor give a warning (or check engine) light if oil temperature is too high? If so, what is that temperature?

I think the pcm goes into failsafe if the temp is too high, to try to cool the engine down.

It's used to tell the PCM when the oil is up to temp to start using the VCT system. Till it gets up to temp, the cams stay full advanced if I remember correctly.
