Hello all! I have no idea how to make a new post so this is my attempt!

I have a 09 GT500, recently just had head gaskets done, full gasket set, and oil+coolant change!

I have had the car back for about 2 weeks, drives reasonably fine for what I expect (car has a egr delete, smaller pulley, no cats, all without a dyno tune) I haven’t been beating on it at all really, some here and there pulls but never WOT. I noticed immediately when I got the car when it would get into boost it would kind of go in and out of power, figured that was just due to the tune now being 100% right. Whatever I drive the car for a full week, no real issues other than boost and other things I suspect is tune related…

I park it after work, car has NEVER over heated, never ran without oil, none of the simple stuff this car was driven 45+ mins home and did FINE!

About 2 hours goes by, me and the woman wanna go get some food, it’s nice out so I offer to take the car out (silly me)

We hop in, clutch in, neutral shake, hit the key… click.

Car won’t turn over, has every single light ya want and 13.8V of power but wouldn’t spin

Me being the redneck I am I decide to use the hill outside the house and bump start it
(Should be fine right?)

Drop the clutch in 2nd, BAM she’s alive!
With one hell of a CLACK CLACK CLACK CLACK…

Instantly turned the car around and parked it, now it starts up but has the knock, haven’t driven it AT ALL since the sound started I’ll try and get a clip of it later today!

If anyone has any idea what it could be or why it happened PLEASE let me know!!!! I’m not afraid to be told “hey that was wrong” IM HERE TO LEARN!!!!

Thank you to anyone in advance!!

Welcome!

To me, it sounds like there was some sort of resistance in the cylinders since it wouldn’t crank…with you having the head gaskets done, it makes me think that perhaps there was coolant in a cylinder.

Then mechanically forced it to crank via the clutch drop, and possibly hydro locked causing a bent rod…..though that’s just based on what I read. A video of the noise would help here.

I would borescope each cylinder looking for any sign of damage and/or water intrusion.

I will get a video of it in a little bit!

However I still question how it would drive 45 mins home and park perfectly fine! (No smoke out of the exhaust or anything) then decide it wanted to load up on coolant?

Also wondering why it will spin over now with the key but not before… still has the exact same amount of coolant in it as when I first picked the car up?

Thank you again though! I will most definitely get a video asap and post it! Also will be attaching any pictures of the motor apart and such if anyone spots an issue I missed maybe

Another update! I will start it again in a minute but I forgot my dang phone inside!

When it’s running and I put my hand on the motor it’s fairly smooth…
NOW THE SUPERCHARGER!
That mf seems to be shaking and clacking like a sumbich…
Any tips for checking the blower out? Best to just pull it off?

Detach the drive belt for the supercharger and spin it by hand. Should spin smoothly without any resistance. If not, pull it and check the vanes.
