I could not agree more. I noticed driving my 3V at night, it sounds like a turbine engine like an H-60. Good feeling.
Our German friends especially will like this:

The top speed of stock 05-06 manuals (3.55 axle gears) was 151mph (243kph). This dropped to 149mph (240kph) on 07-09 manuals (3.31 axle gears).

My only performance mods to the engine are a Ford Racing intake and a 91 octane Lito tune. I do have a Ford aluminum drive line. What kind of HP increase from the stock numbers am I getting? It will never see a dino.thumbnail.jpg

One thing that is interesting I recently noticed. I had to switch it back to completely stock do to emissions testing. I have the original intake . It takes about 5 minutes to switch it over, 2 bolts and the clamp. I had to run it about 30 minutes on the freeway for the computer to reset. The hood flutter above 70 returned with the stock intake. With the FRPP intake there is no hood shake at all. It seals against the under side of the hood quite well and doesn't up the intake noise much over stock. Lito said it is one of the best intakes as far as not drawing air from the engine compartment.

A rule of thumb for horsepower: Record the air mass flow in g/sec and multiply by 1.2. It is a good approximation.

Why is your filter yellow? I have green cotton with oil.
The FRPP intake uses a dry filter. It is very similar to the Bullitt intake. Both have 85mm maf housing. The differences being the Bullitt CAI has a baffle that hangs down off the intake pipe and the Ford Racing emblem is not painted. The original filter color was gray but has since been changed to yellow.

Thanks, didn't know that the FRPP is so different. My Bullitt intake has also two Helmholz resonators for sound "optimizing".

The „ oiled „ air filter is not a good idea for a FI engine with MAF sensor .. a little oil to much on the filter surface and the MAF will suffer.

The dry OEM Filter is a better choice - in my opinion

I have heard this before especially on European cars (VW, Porsche, Audi, etc.). I personally spoke with a K&N engineer years ago and he had a scientific rational. MAF fine wire element operates at 400-600F with a self-cleaning burn off cycle spike of 1,500-2,000F. He then said that the mineral, used in the K&N filters will burn off at 300-350F. He went on to say that over oiling can be an issue but more gunking up the TB and not the MAF, similar to a PVC going into the intake track.

I run a mixture of dry and wet (oil) filters on my cars and so far no issues. Oh, I have been using K&N filters for close to 40 years, but have tried other brands with the same amount of success.

Continue the rear roof/rear window slope all the way to the back like the 69/70.

Different dash pad material that doesn't give a nice 'heads up' leather grain reflection on the windshield on a sunny day!

And, yes, IRS would have been nice. Solid axles are soooo 20th century.
Yes but so is the original Mustang. Ford made the most behaved stick axle in history for the S197's. It took a ton of engineering to get an IRS that cornered as well. Think the S197 is the last "real" Mustang.

I run an oiled Airade on my 2004 F150 only because it was on the truck when I bought it in 2005. I have put 100K on it and have never had an issue. If I had the choice however I would trade it for the stock setup.

Back to 05-09 design changes. My 2005 did not come with the K member brace that became standard in 2007 (I think). It did however have the mounting holes for it. I got one from Jegs and it made a night and day difference. Afterwards I was able to locate the FRPP brace for the shock towers and it made little to no difference although it looks cool!

The motorcraft air filter for the Bullitt was oiled cotton fiber filter from factory. I don't like them too.
