How do they compare. I was told the new v6 puts out more hp/tq than the 4.6 3v I was also told the new v6 would out run my gt? Are these new v6 stangs that good and are they maxed out from factory. What I mean is is every last drop of hp/tq squeezed out from factory where aftermarket mods don't really help it that much. I know the 4.6 3v responds well to mods like cai and tuner and exhaust and boost. Same for the v6. I was having this conversation with a friend who just bought a new v6. I told him it's sweet but I got to have the v-8 sound.

The 2011 V6 is an awesome machine, but it won't outrun an 05 - 09 GT.

It doesn't have the torque the 05-10 gt's has. It's best run has been a 13.7 at 102, but more realistically it seems to be a high 13 second, basement 14 second car, where as the 05-10 gt's are mid 13 second cars with a slightly higher trap.

I have been doing some research the new v6 is very nice, but it's not a v8 so the sound will never be there.

He was wrong about the torque numbers too. The 05-09 GTs have 320lb/ft, while the new V6 has 280lb/ft.

Think about it this way. The cars weigh about the same. They have pretty much the same HP. There speed potential is about the same. The GT has more torque so it'll do more work at the same speed.

Everyone seems to forget that HP is not a real measurement. HP is simply a calculation of torque vs RPM against time. Given enough time the V6 will catch up. But the V8 will do more work in the same time.

(yes I read the sticky on how to embed, but I need to see it done to get it.)

Take everything after the = sign and put it inside [ YOUTUBE ] [ /YOUTUBE ](without the spaces)

Given equal drivers it is a very close race with the win going to the GT because of the torque advantage. Like 1bad65 said, your friend is wrong about the specs though. The GT has a good bit more torque which is what really matters, especially from a dig.

Told him today let's go to the track and test out his theory lol. I rode in his car tonight, mine is much stronger from dig through 4th gear. Told him " should have got a coyote 5.0"

For folks wanting a high powered Mustang without the high powered insurance, they should look at the super chargers coming out for the V6. Puts it into 2011 GT territory HP and Tq wise without the hit on insurance and for about the same money as what a GT would cost. Also, when not boosting, you get the gas mileage of the V6.

I wouldn't go this route personally because I can afford the GT. But if I were a lot younger and insurance was an issue, I would go with the 2011 V6 without a second thought. Throw a S/C or turbo on it and be happy as hell with it.

They make similar power but are down 20-30 ftlbs of torque over the v8.

They respond well to mods such as cai/tune and exhuast as well though.

It's not a race. The 3v has much more power under the curve and a fatter torque curve. The new sixxer is impressive though. There is about a 3-4 mph trap difference. A
Intake tune exhaust six would probably give a stock 3v a run for it's money. But stock for stock and mod for mod it's no contest.

More like 40, right? The 05-09 GT has 320 lb-ft @ 4500 and the V6 has 280 lb-ft @ 4250.

Im going off real world hp/tq to the tires, stock dyno numbers.

Stock 3v's make around 260-270rwhp and 280-290rwtq.

The stock 2011 v6's are putting down 255-265rwhp 265-275rwtq.

In general they seem to put to the tire around 5-10rwhp and 15-20rwtq less than a 3v.

I imagine there is a bit less tq throughout the curve as well, I have yet to see someone lay the numbers over top each other.

The v6's 6speed transmission helps it a bit as well.

if both are stock the 11 v6 will have no chance with the 05-10s. the 11 v6 has no where near the torque of the V8. a friend of mine has one and shes got a cold air and magnaflow axleback exhaust with stock tune and i wasnt very impressed with it at all. not compared to my 06 GT anyways lol

Dont fool yourself. These cars are close. Now in the video above the 2010 GT is rated at 15 more horsepower and 10 more torque than the 05-09 GT due to more agressive factory tuning. Racing 2 automatics, the 2010 GT pulls a car off the line on the v6 as expected with a little more tq but at the end of those races the v6 is closing the gap everytime due to trans gearing.

A stock 05-09 GT would def be neck and neck with a 2011 v6, drivers race for manual trans for sure.

I was wondering why 2010 gt had more hp/tq than the 05 gt. My neighbor is a ase ford mechanic he told yesterday he can put the better factory tune on mine? I was kinda wondering what he was talking about. He said the 2010 gt tune. Can he really do that, also a bbr tune on my car should put it up there with the 2010gt and past the v6.
