I have a 2005 Mustang GT, automatic. Ran fine until I washed the engine. Cranks, but will not start UNLESS I use starting fluid- which starts her and she is responsive for several seconds before fluid is expended and she dies out. Has fuel in tank, washed the engine one day ago, dried it, and have not tried starting her until now.

Help please. Thanks.

If it’s running on starting fluid, you are getting air and spark, so probably fuel.

Is the fuel pump priming?

Do you have an air compressor? If so, might be a good idea to disconnect each connector you sprayed with water and blow them out one by one. I'd probably start with the fuel rail and pressure sensor. Try starting it after you do a few connectors in case she starts so you know what to stay from in the future.
