I’ve never torn down a motor this far, I was really confident going into this but the more videos I’ve watched I’ve become so fucking confused I need help please. I have my timing wage on the driver side I have cylinder one top dead center and have taken the cam caps off the driver side and remove the cam. I mark timing chain phaser gear and cam with nail polish so I know where to put it all back at. What do I do next? I need to have this car put back together by tomorrow morning any help please will be appreciated

What is so confusing?

Compress the valve spring, remove the keepers and retainer and the spring should come right off. then remove the seal. Replace with new seal and put the spring back on. Compress the spring again and install the retainer and keepers.

Wait, are you doing the seals on the number 1 cylinder? I think your on the wrong side of the engine.

You need whatever cylinder you are working on to be at TDC, or you need something to keep the valves from falling through the head into the engine. I've seen people use compressed air or filling the cylinder with something like a length of rope/cord stuffed in the spark plug hole.

Thanks. Sometimes that’s all I need is someone to simplify by being blunt and calling it like it is and telling me to quit being a little bitch and get it done haha I’ve got enough rope in cylinder five since I’m on the driver side to prevent the valve from falling. I would’ve loved to have used air but nobody around me has a 16 mm adapter to go on the compression tool that this car requires. It’s one of those things that have you ever read and thought about something so much that it becomes kind of like a blur? I’ve spent probably 15 hours total in the last 72 watching videos and reading forums it’s like I just drew blank all of a sudden. I apologize if I sound like a fucking idiot but I promise I’m not this shit is just a headache but when you can’t afford to take it to an actual mechanic what are you gonna do? Nut up and hopefully figure it out.
