It wasnt the dealership, the service advisor said she believed Ford was making the wrong decision. I will be calling in the am.

Yep i have an update and i will try to refrain from using any cuss words. I got a call earlier today from the dealership informing me the car had been given to a tech so that he could diagnose the problem. Hmmmm ok cool we are getting somewhere right? Well i just got home from work and there was another message on my voicemail. Mr Clair we just got off the phone with your FCC rep and at this time Ford believe your problems are caused by the engine and i quote "JUST NEEDING TO BREAK IN" WTF did you just say. And they go on to say that if im still burning this much oil at 10000 miles to bring the car in and they will check it out again. Ford says that the Coyote engine is not broke in until 10000 miles, ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME? So at this point im pissed, they want me to pick up my car in the morning. So everything i had nice to say about Ford before, forget it.....So much for not cussing ........

Ford told me the exact same thing

So drive 10000 miles and keep digging thay broken ringland into the cylinder?

Or do what I did and tear it down

I have 250 miles on my rebuild and have not buned a drop of oil
i can pull the oil cap off and see 0 blowby

When my car was smokinh before the build i could take the cap off and see vapor

Damn bro! I'm pissed for you.

I've got some free time tomorrow morning to act as "James", if need be. Let me know, I'll call on your behalf.

You know I got you mane!

I would ask for pictures of the scope done on each cylinder to determine the "broken-in" diagnosis. If they don't have it, tell them you want to personally watch the tech inspect each cylinder and give you a look as well. Time to escalate.

WOW..I too am pissed for ya!!!! I never heard of such a thing, it has to be the dumbest response I've ever heard, what kind of BS is that????? I would be bringing the house of pain down on them. I'd start with a lawyer, and a certified mechanic. OK now that I got that out of my system, I hope for there sake they got you mixed up with someone else. GL..keep us posted.

I'd trade that in, then let the dealer explain to a potential buyer why it smoke so much and it's normal operation. Damn Jewc I feel for ya!

If that is normal operation why does it not do it with 10 miles on the odometer? Gotta love these field "engineers"...

Make them pull the plugs and then ask them to explain why an oily plug is part of that "break in" period. I'd start with that one on the drivers side closest to the firewall :)

So drive it. Drive the HELL out of it. But do NOT do any mods.

Keep all of these conversations on record as well as recording how much oil you need to add, the date, and at what mileage.

It will either clear up (ie. be "broken in" and running great) or will get worse...at which point you should be due for a new motor. If she dies on you before you get to 10k miles, everything has been documented and you should be sitting in a pretty good position. But to repeat myself: DO NOT MODIFY (at least until this issue is cleared up - plus you don't want to be throwing mods on a potentially damaged motor anyway).

She's still under warranty.

Ford engineering in the future you may want to pull your heads out of your asses. Now since you won't let the tech diagnose the problem I'm going to. I can't believe they fed that line of bullshit to the fcc rep and to the tech at the dealer. This is going to be fun.......I guarantee it.

man... If I ever get another S197 looks like ill be sticking to my 3v route... These 5.0s are impressive but these dumb problems are what holds me back...

I know how you feel though dude. My 08 bullitt when I bought it had to go in at 7k to get the freaking transmission rebuilt!! At 7k!! I was so pissed. Lasted fine until 19k until it had more problems and other issues started coming up. I HAD to get rid of the car before it turned into a even bigger money pit. Guess what happend? Once I traded it in I wanted to see the car right before I left (papers all signed new keys in hand for my new dd) I see the car coming back on a tow truck...

My heart sunk as I thought the young punk who took it out for A test drive wrecked it. Nope. What do i see hanging from underneath the car? Drive shaft pulled away from the transmission. The look on the dealers face was just as bad as mine. All he did was turn to me and say.. Our problem now huh? Im like guess so... Oh well not my money! Enjoy your new ride haha

If the dealer feels there is no problem. Trade it in and push for max value.

How sensitive is the tivct on the 5.0's???
