If you make the car a little smaller and weigh 3350 lbs, like I mentioned above, it will be just as fast or faster with the TR-6060 with the same ring & pinion ratio as a 2012 while getting better fuel economy.

the question is why? Ya you hear stories about broken MT82s, but you also hear stories about how TR6060s wont shfit into second. Hell mine in the GT500 is currently showing this behavior.

The MT82 is holding power pretty damn well for what it is, it may not hold as much as the 6060, but it holds more than most people are throwing at it.

Next arguement. It's built in China... the TR6060 is made in Mexico. Pick your poison.

The TR-6060 without the remote shifter, unlike the one that is currently used in the GT-500, has really good shift feel/quality. Something that seems desirable to people who typically buy import cars. The Mustang needs to appeal to a wider audience, more than the current market. The MT-82 Mustangs's I've driven have been very hit or miss in how well they shift. Some feel sloppy as hell and others are good. Lets face it, there are quite a few $25,000-$40,000 sporty cars out there. The next Mustang has to have a wide appeal to sell well. It will be the little things like better shifter feel, optional keyless start, standard Bluetooth integration, and standard and optional features that will allow it to compete with other cars in its price range. Have you seen the standard features of some of the $18K-$25K import cars out there these days, not to mention the slightly more expensive ones? Ford needs to do all those little things to lure in new buyers that otherwise would overlook the Mustang.

The MT-82 is rated for how much torque? If I remember correctly the spec was something like 380-400 ft-lbs. Sure they hold up to much more than that, but how many high power 5.0's with the MT-82 have a lot of miles on them?

Also, putting the TR-6060 in more cars could cut down the production cost of the TR-6060 if the production capacity is there..

Next arguement. It's built in China... the TR6060 is made in Mexico. Pick your poison.

I have to say, my experience with Mexican made engines and transmissions in Fords has been very positive.

I agree with you there that the factory shifter on my GT500 is nicer than the shifter on my 5.0. But this is a simple aftermarket fix, not granted not every buy is going to replace their shifter, Ford needs to fix this.

I had a 2012 Hyundai Genesis Coupe R-Spec. The only appealing standard feature it had was the seats and brembo brakes, other than that it was quite bland inside. The nicest interior sport coupe I had was my 2008 Infiniti G37S but it was stickered at about $47,000. Definitely not Mustang GT pricing territory. For all of those features you were losing performance. Probably the closest in comparison IMO would be the 370Z since its lighter weight makes up for it's anemic engine.

I thought Sync was standard in all Mustangs starting in 2013, so Ford id stepping up there.

You may have driven a few MT82 equipped 5.0s, but I have owned two of them, as well as a TR6060 GT500. I've never had a single issue with the MT82 and I beat the piss out of it with myprevious 2011.

For what its worth, Mexican 351w engines are considered the best small block ford but thats sort of an apples to oranges comparison. I'd definitely rather have Mexico benefit than China for trade, as they are our neighbor and a strong economy there reduces negative externalities here (illegal immigration, drug trafficking).

Fuck China!!

lol but for real, the TR6060 is a better option imo

then you'll need to see mustangs coming out with 4.10+ gears to take advantage of the power curve in the coyote to make up for the gearing.
