Inline 6 option back in 1967/68 when my mom bought her 67.5 with the gross fake landau top.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion on this. Plenty of New Edge owners hate the looks of the S197. Sure, faster, more technology, more power, better handling, etc. Does it make the car better? Nope.

I would put myself in a V8 SN95 with manual locks and windows, and a tape deck, before I bought a 4 cylinder Mustang. I don't care how technologically advanced it is, or how fast it is, or whatever it is.

Will the same people that are praising this 4 banger be drinking the Kool Aid when they make the move to a front wheel drive option?

I think going to FWD would really cut the heart of the Mustang crowd. Ford tried to go that way when it looked like the Mustang was going Probe-esque, and the outcry got Ford's attention. But, who knows what the future holds.

So whats your definition of being "better"? Being slower, less tech, outdated design, less comfort?

The probe WAS going to be the new Mustang and the legions of Mustang fans overwhelmed Ford with hate mail. They got the hint and kept it rear wheel drive. It has been awhile but don't think they have forgotten... I would bet we will see an all-wheel drive version long before a front wheel only model.

Haters gonna hate, and I respect the Mustang lineage, but I'd rock an AWD model. It would be very cool as an option.

It better be built tough if they ever do awd in a mustang.

Someone school me. How do the rods in the boss mustang/2015 compare to 2011-2014 rods? How about vs the gt500?

I'd trade my Bullitt for a 2015 in a minute if I were in the market for a new car.

I find it interesting that Ford is so serious about the European and other global markets and yet the Mustang got even WIDER than the S197. Mustangs are hulks maneuvering around Many European towns.

I think that people need to keep in mind that the globalization of the Mustang is a necessity. With that comes the additional engines (TONS of Euro sports cars have turbo engines of less than 8 cylinders because of the ridiculous fuel prices there), more refined suspensions, and slightly less retro design. Go back and look at the photos of the 13 vs 15 mustangs parked next to each other. There is SOOOO MUCH more that they have in common design wise than is different. They extended the slope of the cabin to create the fastback shape, added fender flares to widen the track (which coincidentally gets rid of the vestigial side scope behind the doors, and stretched out the profile of the rear end. Even the front ends aren't that different. The 13's anf 14's already started to get the Fusion styled lower fascia, the 15 just carries it a bit further and they modifed the Fusion headlight design (by throwing in the three vertical scallops from the original 65 design).

If Ford didn't go this direction, it would become increasingly difficult for designers to convince management to keep the Mustang around and poor dollars into the high performance models that we crave so much. Even if Global sales account for only 10% of total sales, that is 10% more of what will likely be the base and 2.3 Ecoboost model to help offset the batshit crazy versions coming down the pipeline. A 500-600hp NA GT350 with 345 rear tires and carbon brakes from the factory needs to happen and we need globalization to make it a reality.

Won't be in a position to purchase a car for two or three years, so I hope the 3.5EB becomes an option by then. That's what I'd really like to see. Of course, a high output n/a v8 would tempt me as well.

The market for the focus St is already huge, add to that, a Mustang with the same engine, and it's gonna get big real fast. Turbod 4's also don't have the same fart can sound that Hondas do, just look at a subie with exhaust, they're throaty and mean, so exhaust note won't be an issue, and with how fast companies are gonna jump on modding them, they're gonna be nasty little fuckers in no time

Haha you can't be serious? This is all EXACTLY why the car is better. And buying your "V8 SN95 comment" only further proves that you are close minded. Are you even reading what you are typing sir?

Sure you are entitled to your own opinion, but :ftard:

The rods in the Boss/2015 & the GT500 are all sinter forged while the rods in the 5.0 are just powered metal. I'm curious about the piston design though, they said it was a new design so who knows, if the pistons are as capable as the rods and crank then the motor should be able to hold up to 850HP before having to go with forged internals. I don't understand why you would go with forged rods and crank and not forge the pistons unless the new design will be able to hold up to the power of the rods 7 crank.

Considering many European sports cars in the the 6-7 foot wide range I don't think it's an issue. People worried about that should get a commuter car IMO.

Mustang is a 2.3T, Focus ST is 2.0T

The Subie 4 cyl is a LOT different in design compared with the 2.3L Eco engine. They're not going to sound anything alike. And the ST 2.0 is not the same as the 2.3 Eco.

Yep. I sure wish it had the 2.3 though. Although it can be a handful with the 252 HP it has now, I imagine it'd be a double handful with another 50 on top.

I drove my brothers plenty of times and it really is a great car. Fast, torque steer is addicting to play with, and it goes where you want to put it. I'm kinda annoyed he is selling it now though since I wanted to put coilovers and wheels on it. That engine sounds very nice too under any amount of acceleration.

Thanks. One more query please.

The oem rods in the 3v are also powdered? Why can the 5.0 rods hold more power if they are made with the same process?
