This crap is almost getting as annoying as genital herpes... I really want to get some cold hard information on the stock cars having #8 issues.

From what I have "heard", many people are getting them tuned, reverting them back to stock ECU programing when #8 blows and then saying it is a stock car with a blown #8. I cannot validate this only because it is just another game of "telephone." So far we have not had any customers bring these into our shop. Only engine we have replaced in a 5.0 is due to a kid putting one into a wall.

While this is definitely true, there is always spectators who don't know that or don't look into that and this is how the train of misinformation can begin.

Friend of owner: Aw man did you take it to Ford?

Owner: Ya dude it is all stock (this is where it begins, the friend now thinks it is technically all "stock" when computed back to the standard form)

Friend of owner spreads the word and says his friend took his "stock" 5.0 with a blown #8 to the Ford dealership.

An unnamed tuner told someone that an unnamed dealership had 3 unconfirmed stock #8 failures, and it's a secret known only to Ford Corporate and all of the employees at that dealership...er and that tuner.

SPRINGFIELD FORD,,,,, 2 autos, one manual. All three cars were confirmed to be bone stock. One block is actually cracked. I don't care if you a holes believe it or not but it is very real. Job 2 cars are not showing up due to more fuel being added to that bank.

These are the first autos I've heard of going boom. I think if mine was going to pop it would have by now. 16k miles with 125+ autocross passes, 20+ 1/4 mile passes, and a day at the road course. Let's hope I continue to be lucky. Two more autocross events this weekend. Oh, and mine is an early '11, too.
