Like the thread sasy...has anyopne used it....?I assume that these are in between the 3:73 and the 4:10......I recently have the 3:55 and running 6 psi of boost, but planning on upping the boost soon..so is that a good choice of gears?Or I should go with 3:73....or 4:10's....or...post up...has anyone used those?Do they whine?

3.90's are motive gears. they might whine. i have 4.10's and 8 psi on a whipple, and with my crappy tires traction is an issue. but i like them, and i'll upgrade the tires soon, the 4.10's are staying in there. having too much power is better than having too little. if you already have 3.55, then go to 4.10's, bc the 3.73's wont make a significant improvement over the 3.55's.

Thats why I was thinking about the 3.90's....becasue they're not as much as the 4.10 but a little better that the 3.73....I guess

Well I'm on my second set of 3:90's right now and they are screaming their asses off.

Next set will be some 3:73's

im about to have 4.10s installed on my car in the next few weeks. then hopefully a KB 2.6L a while after that. my thinking is that 3.90s would be an improvement but the 4.10s would be a big difference and relay let the power loose on the low end which is what i want in my daily driver. i think if you are going to do it just go with the most you can because if you are like me you are alwase wanting more and i think i would end up changeing the 3.90s out 4.10

I will, but I heard a lot of bad things as far as HVH goes for a long haul...like doing 90mph on like 3200 rpms.....thats loud..I do lots of long drives...+I also drive my car in the winter too....wet and icy roads....bad traction=bad idea :)

I had two sets of FRPP 4:10's that made so much noise that people in other cars would stare. Then I had a set of Yukon 4:11's which were better at first but after 5K miles it got a lot louder. Today I had another set of FRPP 4:10's installed from a different production run and they are a lot quieter but still are not silent. The installer is one of the best in my area and he told me that who ever made the gears for Ford in the first two sets was replaced by Ford because of poor quality and that he had a number of bad expieriences with the earlier FRPP gear sets.

So my whole point is that even with a good install sometimes low gear ratios are just noisy due to poor quality control by the sub-contractor or manufacturer.

My Motive 3.90's were installed perfectly and they have whined from day one. I think if I did it again I'll just get 4.10's.

I had 3.90's in mine... I had Motives... they sounded like stock to be honest with ya...

This is just my opinion but I think the 3.90's are the perfect gear for our cars... I have had 3.31's, 3.90's, 4.10's, 3.55's... out of all of them I prefer the 3.90's... the 4.10s were just to short for me and the others weren't short enough

I may be buying some Pro 5.0 3.90's soon... I haven't decided yet on going back to them or trying 3.73's...

on another note... precise setup will eliminate most if not all whine... for me it always has

only thing i have to add is if its installed right, they shouldnt whine.

I had Motive 4.10s in my old mustang and they were just as quiet as stock.
