Saturday night I hit a patch of Ice on the interstate on my way home.

The rear swung hard to the drivers side and just before I could take a sigh of relief getting her back I found her ass coming around on the passenger side.

Inbetween I had punched the clutch but as she swung out again i never made the swing to neutral.swung a full 180 and I found myself looking at the people that were behind me. I looked threw the back window to see wtf I was about to hit. In the process of kissing my A$$ goodbye I let go of the clutch while doing about 60 backwards while in 4th gear.

Now my rear is whining like a SOB and the valvetrain is noisier then hell. Im just wondering just how bad the damage to the engine/trans/rearend could be. I know who the adjuster is going to be and as much as the words total loss bother me I almost think it would be for the better. I probably had to turn her over 3-4 times to start and while the impact was to the rear strangely Ive even got some clunking up front and the steering isnt nearly as tight.

Any ideas on why the front would be out if I smoked the rear ? I literally just got her back on friday from the dealer with a clean bill of health on everything. Any suggestions on what could have happened to the powertrain would be great as well. I want to make sure if shes going to be fixed its done right.

Please dont suggest the "shop" will just report additional damage the adjuster and I may miss. I did that last time and ended up taking the shop to court because they were lazy. I lost money because the judge couldnt comprehend that "all the work" had to be redone due to the 30% they dropped the ball on.:asshat:

Sorry for the rant, I love this car and this is just stressing me out. thanks for any help in advance

If your motor turned over backwards with the kinds of forces involved, it is highly likely one or both timing chains could jump a tooth.

Or broke a follower.

That's just all kinds of bad news. We'd all be guessing blind with most responses. The ammount of force binding on the drivetrain against the motor, my guess would be everything from belt damage to rear clutch packs.

Only way to find out, is to inspect everything. I'm honestly suprised you didn't hear a loud crack/pop from the tranny. 3650's are tough dogs, but not that tough. If anything would give first, my money would be on the tranny. I think a total out might be in you safest, best interest. Even with a full replacement in power/drivetrain, I can see you hunting gremlins from it for months/years/forever.

If you know the adjuster, I would try and talk him into doing a total loss on the car. Like 702GT said you could be chasing down problems forever.

At the end of the day I dont think I could bring myself to let go of this car. To make a long story short its named after Forward Operating Base Vulcan in Ghazni Afghan.

If it comes down to it I'll buy this car back, I'm not too surprised at the tranny/rearend issues but the noise in the valvetrain...cant catch a break lol.
