I have a full built Level 10 in mine. Been beating on it for almost 4 years pushing a little over 500 to the wheels with quite a few track passes. Not a moment's worth of trouble with it ..... yet ....

Got a sneaky feeling that I might be looking for something different after I get the car back next week

Depends on your goals. A built 5R from PA, or Level 10 should handle a decent amount with no problem, but if you want an auto and are getting over 600, I would want to get a 4R70W.

I would like to stay with the 5r. I have a precision converter and do not want to lose that. My goals are to turn the boost up and make around 650 or so to the wheels.

just avoid headaches, 5r55s has no word past 600rwhp built by whoever you like, the trans itself is not capable of supporting high rwhp #'s, tons of guys have learned it the hard way.

I also had a PI converter when I had the 5r in the car, the trans gave up being NA at 21K miles and well a SC was going in so I just went straight ahead with a TH-400 lol ...

Just like the others said, with the higher numbers, a 4r70 is more desirable. But if your hell bent on sticking with the 5r, I would suggest level ten although Ive still got one in my garage with a busted band that I havent gotten around to fixing. Lol

If you decide to change your mind, Ive got a pretty beastly 4r70w with a PI converter for sale. Maybe Hawg will pick it up though lol.

If your over 600 rwhp and track alot, go with c4, th400, or 4r.

I will be keeping mine around 575 rwhp and you can use any company you want. They all use the same parts. Ie level ten, circle d, tci etc.... And keep in mind, if it's a street car, it's not gonna see all that power all te time. Just when u gun it. So driving around spiritly, you can probably get away with 650
