i have a 08 bullitt mustang. i make 650 rwhp on pump 93 with a DOB gt450 intake, ported 1st design tvs with the smallest pulley DOB makes, 10% overdrive IW dampener making 20lbs boost, 72mm L&M tb, 123 mm cold air intake with stock MAF, detroit rocker cams, stage 1 FRPP ported heads, AR long tube headers with 2 1/2" off road X pipe and stock exhaust. i have a AFCO 3X pass heat exchanger with a 2013 pump and alloy under hood expansion tank that you can add ice to. i have a complete GT500 fuel system with a boost a pump for the pump. this is about the max hp you can make with a DOB intake on pump gas.
if i added a few ci, larger cams, or better ported heads it would lower my boost a bit but wouldn't really add more power. my supercharger is maxed out, it won't flow more air. others have used newer designed superchargers and gotten a more power than i have. my tune is somewhat conservative, i could add more timing for more power. i am 1/2 deaf so i can't hear detonation so less timing it is. if i used race gas i could add more timing for more power also.
this much power will break your trans so figure upgrading yours with good internals and clutch or upgrade to a 6060 from a GT500 along with a clutch and flywheel.
you will probably have to upgrade the center section of your rear end at this power level. you should also upgrade the rear control arms to help with wheel hop.
TVS is now making a 2650 supercharger, if you get one of them it can add another 100 or more hp over the TVS gen 2 superchargers. i don't think they are for sale yet. i did see a ad in last months hot rod for one to go on hellcats.
also at this power lever you might consider upgrading your brakes. $$ for $$ the cheapest upgrade would be buying takeoff GT500 4 piston 14" rotors and the larger GT500 rear rotors and brackets.
now if i had a big $$$ to spend i would bore and stroke my motor to a 5.3 with good forged internals, get a really good port job on the heads, get larger cams, bigger headers, 3" X-pipe. then a DOB R spec intake with a Whipple 4.0 or larger supercharger, probably put a in the trunk ice expansion tank, and a return style fuel system. with this motor build you should get about a 1000 rwhp and will set you back at least 30K. you will also need to upgrade the trans to a magnum XL too handle the power, new they cost around $3500. now you will need to upgrade the rear end with axles and center section so figure about $1000- $3500 for that depending on how you go. also upgrade the control arms with adjustable ones to help put the power to the ground. you will also need something done to your hood to allow more air thru the radiator and other coolers. by the time you are done you will probably have spent 100K on the car and mod parts.
honestly a HP war is unwinnable. there will always be someone with more power or goes faster. in my opinion and a few others here anything over 650 rwhp is useless on the street. you will just smoke the tires. 650hp can get you into the 9's at the track. to pass tech at the track you will need a 6 point roll bar. this can be made livable on the street. faster than 9's require a cage to crawl over to get in and out of the car.
hope this info helps you with your decision.
