I totally agree. I never understood why anyone would put vinyl stripes on a $30,000 car. To me it just looks like shit. If you feel you have to have stripes then get them painted on the right way.

If they are done right it looks fine. The reason why most people do stripes is because it's cheaper. I know he quoted a price of $550 done the right way, but you'll be hard pressed to find anyone that will do it for that price with 2 coats of clearcoat(have the stripes done on the bumpers, etc). That stuff is expensive and that guy must be hurting for cash. Normally you're looking at $1500+ to have it done right. That verses $300 and you'll have your reason for going vinyl.

I agree. My stripes have gone bad and one shop quoted me 2200 to remove and paint new stripes on. I am seriously considering just throwing the vinyl back on just for money's sake. Personally I think it looks good and the whole dipping into my procharger savings fund to paint on stripes is just a no no:naughty:

Honestly why would you want ti apint stripes on a $30k car I had both at one point and I got tired of them so I had to re-paint the whole car just because I didn't want them no more. I like the luxury of being able to take them off if I get tired of them and especially if you go to sell the car the new buuyer might not like them and he backs out just because of that.

Painted stripes are cool and all but IMO not worth when vinyl stripes look almost the same from a distance which people only see the car from unless a car show and in that case it is not like you get more rep just for having them painted.

Here here! Mine currently look like doodoo, but go fast stuff is more important right now. I know enough to be sure and buy quality stripes the next time though.

ok so i got my price out sheet from my builders ... and everything is looking great. BUT, they out source for the stripe install, the guy they wanna use is asking 750 bucks for the super snake stripe kit installed ... mind you i have the kit already. Seems INSAINLY high to me since you can get them painted on for that much ! What are your guys thoughts. I know its not the builders I trust them 100% and there judgement but 750 for a stripe install my install for my cams are less than that !
Print this picture off and hand it to them:

So i had my builders cancel the strip install. There is no way i was going to pay close to a grand for that. They felt really bad, but they understand were i was comming from. The worst part is THATS the one part of the build i was really looking foward to seeing done was the stripes. UGGG.. I hate when companys inflate their prices to try and make money when in reality there loosing buisness ! Just fucking sad! At least i have an honest build team. Rather them say hey we know how to then do it and it comes out fucked up, There up front and told me they cant. I respect that alot !

Yeh I have an email off to the biggest Vehcilce Wrap company in NORCAL, They do this shit all day so HOPFULLY they wont try to fucking rape me ! And there super close to the installers...and yeh 450 at the most is what i would pay NOTHING higher than that ! Espcially when the instrustions even say Time to install should take anywere from 2-4 hours. So unless the guy was charging some INSAIN labor rate im not seeing how it would take 7.5 hours!

I like vinyl, it allows me to change the color of them anytime I want. I also went with the BSM stripes, not bad, not really great.....but they work. I went with the flat black first, maybe next spring I will try another color, it really does change the entire look of the Mustang.

When I was going to get stripes, I did search around at local places, my problem was the Cervini hood, no one wanted to do the job, I had one place tell me 1,400 and I would need to leave it with them for 2 days.......that was a no on both parts.

I went with Baltimore Street Mods for only 1 reason, when I told him I had the Cervini C-500 kit, he knew what I was talking about and he already had that in his computer and had it cut for me that day, it cost around 220 dollars and a local shop did the install of them for around 250, after a year with them on, I do need to replace a few of the stripes (I was cleaning the hood stripes and put a little to much preasure on one of them, now it has a shiney spot), but I can wait till next year to see if I go with another color.
