Im not sure if our cars will read that style maf without some tune adjustments. Im guessing you cut the stock slot-style maf connector and spliced that in, also could be a wiring issues. Our stock mafs worrk great in different size housings fyi.

Because you don't just want more air, you want a MAF sensor that allows more air flow without pegging

Now, to the OP's question.
Look here

exactly what i needed. thanks.

car's up and running but i'm only seeing 6psi with the needle fluctuating quite a bit between 5 and 6psi. it's a 3.4 pulley so i should be seeing 9psi. any ideas?

mods:
saleen supercharger with 3.4 pulley. 90mm ford maf. c+l intake elbow. steeda filter. 39lbs injectors. pypes lt with o/r x pipe. kenne bell bap. jdm tune.

I had almost the same set up but with a 90mm Ford Lighning MAF, 3.6" pulley and no BAP. JDM tuned the car and I had no CEL...

When you run the car, the boost numbers must be read during load production. If you sit there with the car in neutral, you can not accurately read the boost numbers...

Check for a vacuum leak, a oxygen sensor or MAF mulfunction...

If it was the belt, you would hear it squeel...

Good Luck, Dave

By the way, I changed to a 3.4 pulley, BAP, HT0 plugs, Steeda 90mm MAF and a Thump Racing Belt Tensioner with a Brenspeed tune... Brenspeed called this set up their "Corvette Killer" System...

The car pulls like a "banshe"...

I hit all my numbers and the car is so quick, I have to wear two pairs of pants when I run it hard...

Just Saying!!! Dave

No, not exactly, A bigger tube with the same maf will support more power to an extent. A lightning maf in its 90mm housing will support around 450-500hp and so will the stock slot style maf in the right size tube.

Cai/tunes make most of their power by putting the maf in a larger diameter tube and then retuning for the added air.

Good link, though it seems like your going backwards to me, slot style mafs are alot more capable and accurate than the pre 05 style.
I would take an hpx or ba5000 slot style maf over the lmf anyday. To the op, seems you have a wring issue, good luck!

It looks like your vacuum lines are OK...

Take the advice of the last Lightblade and look into the intake tube for the MAF...

I run the C&L Racer intake tube with my 90mm steeda MAF and Steeda Filter and do not experience your problems...

Lastly, you may need to take your car to a dyno to have it all checked out...

Questioning your installation again and again will only continue to frustate you...

Best of Luck, Dave

bought a new belt and was doing the same fluctuation as before. found out the belt was rubbing on the alternator bracket. ground the bracket down a little bit. no more rubbing. now the car holds 7psi and spikes 8psi at 5000 rpm's. although i thought the 3.4 pulley was supposed to be good for 9.5psi? possibly lower because of the long tubes and no cats?

I have the same setup but with stock manifolds and cats and I normally see right around 8.5psi and when it gets cold it will hit right at 9 but I have NEVER seen 9.5psi... the weather ,elevation, and even barometric pressure and humidity ALL can play a factor in the boost you see... This summer when it was really hot at night here in orlando (like in the 80s) I was seeing only 7.5psi and sometimes would drop down to just over 7! but now that its starting to get cooler out at night its back up to holding a solid 8.5 psi but sometimes it will drop to just over 8 in the upper rpm band... Your headers and cats WILL make a difference as well so you have nothing to worry about your right in the range you should be....
