Anybody actually run 4.10 with mt82?

Lemme get this straight, Five oh Brian uses 4:10 gears on his NA coyote....yet VMP uses 2.73 gears on it's blown coyote.

I forgot the V6 cars used the 2.73 gears. Folks with V6's + oem 2.73's say they are slugs, it's the 1st thing they swap out. However, the 2.73 might be the ideal ticket for stuff like..the texas mile.

It has many more benefits than just the mile. I'm using 2.47's on my turd and it should run ok once it's buttoned up. Out of boost it will feel terribly slow but it should pick up a little when the boost is ramped in.

As far as highway driving there is little difference. The mt82 is, 4th gear 1.32. and 5th gear is 1.00. The tr3650 is 3d= 1.32 and 4th = 1.00. Even the OD is almost the same. So if the tires are the same size there is no difference. You just get an extra gear with the MT82. You can start off in 2d gear on the street and save 1st for racing.

Plenty of folks use a 3.73 with a TR3650. So a 3.73 with a MT-82 would provide the same final overall ratio's. IE: 3rd with a tr3650 = 4th with a MT-82t. 4th with a 3650 = 5th with a MT-82. (assuming same diam rears)

If the idea is to cross the finish line, and be almost at redline, or close to it, with a 27" tall tire, and with a 1:1 tranny gear, a 3.31 is good for 150 mph. A 3.73 gear is good for 133 mph. A 4.10 gear is good for 121 mph. (assuming 6 krpm). If your redline is higher than 6 krpm, your max capable speeds will obviously be higher. Ditto if a taller tire is used, like a 28" or 28.88" tire.

So in theory, either a 3.73 or 4.10 would easily work with a 27" tire + 6 krpm. Heck, a 4.56 gear + a 28.88 tire + 7k rpm redline would be good for 136 mph.

I guess it all depends on the final application....street/round town /hwy /drag strip/ fuel economy / manual /automatic /NA / blower etc. Mopar has migrated to 8 speed auto's these days...dunno how that is working out for them.

A blower + auto is a fun combo for dd street / hwy use. "mash + dash".

Sounds like fun! I was happy with the 3.73's in my 07 and it feels like I still have 3.73's in the 12 with 3.55's. Albeit there's not a whole lot of difference. ...lol

Weather permitting, I'll be at Pacific Raceways this coming Wednesday (8.26). If the weather doesn't cooperate then, I'll likely be at Bremerton Raceway this coming Friday (8.28) instead.
