I am sick & tired of truckers trying to drive me into Jersey walls on I-75. [How many lanes do you want?] Has anyone upgraded the horn on a 4.6?

I can get a 130dbl horn from Rock Auto. https://iihs.net/fsm/?d=348&f=Horn.pdf&p=1 makes installation appear reasonably simple.

Any reasons to do upgrade or not upgrade?

If you want it noticeably louder you want 2 horns with different tones. Then run a dedicated higher gauge power wire from the battery to the horn and use the original horn power wire as the switch lead for the relay that you will install by the horns.

The stock wiring is always the bare minimum. Loud horns draw more current just like loud speakers. More current pushed through thin wire ends up with a voltage drop and loss of volume. Plus the dual tone is much more aggressive sounding.

Don't believe any dB ratings without a distance being sited. I guarantee that 130 dB horn is no where near that loud.

Lastly, a snail shaped horn is typically louder than a pancake type horn.

fwiw I pulled the horns from another mustang and connected them to the existing ones, so now there is double the sound for almost no $$
