Hello everyone,
I recently finished a timing rebuild on my 2005 Mustang GT, and after some diagnostics, I discovered that my PCM is bad and needs replacing. I actually knew about the PCM issue before starting the timing rebuild, but I decided to focus on the engine first, thinking it was a more urgent task, especially considering the car's mileage. A shop diagnosed the problem for me, checked the wiring to ensure nothing was damaged, and then checked the pins, confirming that the PCM was indeed the issue.

Now, I'm looking at Flagship One, Inc. for the PCM replacement, but since it's a fairly expensive repair, I want to make sure I'm making the right choice.

Has anyone here used Flagship One for a PCM replacement? How was your experience with them?

  • Did the PCM work perfectly out of the box?
  • Was the programming for your VIN accurate and hassle-free?
  • Did you experience any issues after installation?
  • Would you recommend them for this kind of repair?
I've read good reviews online, but I'd love to hear firsthand experiences before I commit to a purchase. I want to ensure this is a reliable fix and not a waste of money.

Thanks in advance for your feedback!

What happened with Pro-Tech Auto Systems?

I’ve haven’t used any of the following companies myself, but I’ve read positive reports about the following;
  • Automotive Circuit Solutions
  • Autoecm
  • Upfix
  • Module Master

I've seen posts about them here and the mostly positive reviews on Trustpilot, but I'm feeling a bit suspicious about it. I just want to make sure I don't get scammed out of $600–$1,000, you know? But ill definitely check out those other companies you mentioned.

Seems Ford made a lot of bad PCMs in those years. The F-Super Duty trucks are known for them going bad, especially the ones with the v-10 gas motor. Mine is failing now and having a heck of a time even locating one. I will be contacting all of these places to see if they have one.
One guy in Kentucky told me if I can find one, it can be over $2000 with a core value for my old one around $700.

Doing some Google research, it seems Flagship One is not a good company to deal with. Just search 'flagship one reviews'.

I filled out the online form for an inquiry at NPC Automotive Computers tonight so should hear back tomorrow. Their online reviews were quite good.

My guess is they don't get a lot of volume for the 05-09 PCMs. Can't hurt calling them, though.

How many arms and legs does Ford want these days?

This is the only code that keeps appearing, even after replacing the O2 sensor twice with different brands each time. The shop claims the issue is due to a faulty PCM, which is one of the reasons I've been searching for a replacement.

I'll probably take it to a Mustang-specialized shop like MAK Performance Group in Hialeah, FL, to get it sorted out. I just remembered that the car had a tune when I bought it, and the previous owner even gave me the tuner device, a Diablo tuner. I can't remember exactly which model, but it's one of the two in the images below. Man, does it look old! Being 20 and majoring in cybersecurity, this kind of tech looks super outdated to me.

I'll try to find the tuner again, it's in one of the boxes near the washing machines. What I really want to learn, though, is how to read the graphs and data on the tuner or OBD scanner. Most of it is a mystery to me, except for a handful of values. But I'll try to see if anyone here can recommend me a company that fixed their PCM issues recently.
