Milwaukee is on top of the game when it comes to Li-Ion batteries. Their battery chemistry, the chips/electronics in the batteries AND the tools are top notch.

If you plug that battery into a impact, it KNOWS its in an impact and gives the proper amount of power. If you put that same battery into a drill, it KNOWS it's in a different tool and adjusts accordingly.

I sell both DeWalt and Milwaukee (and a few other brands), most people buy DeWalt because the name is so recognized. There's nothing wrong with either brand, their both good. You will be pleased with either one of those choices.

Use a 1/2" drive 18V cordless Mastercraft sold through Canadian Tire. Clearly not the lightest impact but pretty good for what I have used it with so far. For a drill I use an 18V Dewalt.

1/2" Milwaukee Fuel for sure! Plenty of torque and the batteries seem to last forever. I considered getting the Ingersoll-Rand impact. They always make good tools and it has plenty of power, but I am definitely pleased with the Milwaukee.

I have a Craftsman 20V that I got as a gift a few years ago. It's outstanding. I thought the torque would be lacking but it's been great. I think it's less than $150 IIRC.

I have to charge my battery maybe once a month. Love the li-ion setup.

Really?! How much use is that?

If can get a solid day out of heavy use for example, I may have to become a convert.

I do need to buy new drill, circular saw, and sawzall.. will definitely have to look at them

My example of the impact for those huge lag bolts was new milwaukee, but that really was a torture test and the battery packs were small in size, wondering if it was just need another model

Glad this popped up - I've been looking for one of these. I'll likely go cordless, in case I ever get a call from family on a blown tire. Sears has a 18 or 20v 1/2" for a good price. Not the biggest fan of their cordless stuff, but for no more than I'll use it for, it's a good deal. I'm just thinking lug nuts and other stuff around the house.

I've used the Milwaukee M12 series exclusively for about a year, and the batteries have been great. That's with a lot of heavy use, too. The M18 Fuel blew me away. The stuff ain't cheap, but a luxury that I find worth it.

I pretty much only use air to check tire pressure, hvlp painting, and blowing out dirt.

Milwaukee makes some of the best stuff.

However, the AC Delco cordless impact has been tested, tried and true and seems to be a phenomenal cordless impact. Here's the one I'm talking about....

This is the tool you need to get. http://www.milwaukeetool.com/power-tools/cordless/2763-22 I never even fire up my compressor anymore, to use my air impact tools. This thing will handle about anything you can throw at it. I have the M12 3/8's also and it will handle 80% of your normal work. They are both very light and compact for the power they offer and the battery's are just stupid good. They last forever and hold a charge, when not in use just great. I can pick up the M18, after not using it for weeks and it will still have the same charge level it had when I last put it down.

I recently bought an 18V Snap On 1/2 drive, its powerful but a little on the heavy side. No regrets, it beats useing a compressor and hose. It came with a nice carrying bag also.
