I've read in various places that the Pypes Long Tubes are knock offs of the Kooks piece. Do any of you know if this is true or not? I'm a little curious to see what the S197forum experts say.

I guess the next question would be are they a good enough knock off to make buying them worth it?

Definately. I installed them and they fit perfect. No leaks and nowhere close to hitting frame rails or steering shaft. You wont be dissapointed...

I'm in the same conundrum as you dude. I am curious as well if anybody has any real world numbers to post to see the actual difference between the two makes.

I checked out the price of Pypes headers at Brenspeed and added the H pipe, cats, O2 sensor extenders, and gaskets to get the same stuff that came with my Kooks headers. The price from Brenspeed currently is $1024.15. I got in on a group buy to get my Kooks headers last year and paid $1150 shipped. The Kooks included the headers, H pipe with high flow cats, O2 harness extender, gaskets, and new bolts for attaching the headers to the cylinder head. If you looks aorund you may be able to find more group buys for the Kooks headers. I've seen them from various vendors on various forums over the past year.

I'd rather pay the extra $125 for the Kooks knowing that they stand behind their products. I've heard of people having problems with Pypes cat back systems in the past and the company didn't do much to resolve the issue or was slow to do anything about it. I haven't heard any complaints about Kooks.

You paid 1024$ for the pypes? WTF?!?! LMAO!!!

I think I paid 560$ish for the Headers, x pipe, extenders (which weren't needed) and gaskets(which weren't needed).

Pypes longtubes come with EVERYTHING(gaskets, O2 extension, all bolts) you need to install. Cats will be extra, but who really needs those anyways.

I got mine for $650 shipped BTW...

I had a pypes offroad H awhile back and while the fitment was good the clamps were shit. Had to weld everything together to stop the leaks.

The longtubes however are very nice. I was going to order Kooks but then quite a few people who have first hand experience posted about how nice the pypes were so I gave em a shot and Im glad I did.

I ordered Pype's new HDR55SK 304SS Long Tube Headers & X-pipe last week.
Should have them installed by friday. If they don't fit, they'll be packed up and returned.

304 Stainless... Same as the Kooks

http://www.stainless-online.com/manufacturing/304-409-stainless.htm

However, the Pype's x-pipe's are 409

Watch the Kooks cats... someone on here had them clog within 1000
miles. Dunno if this was a fluke or not, just saying.

And that's a damn good price for Kooks with Cats... do share!
