Wow, I wish I had my life back I spent reading this but I wanted to see where it went. I have 2 good friends who make a living like this. They have cash in the bank and watch CL and the forums like hawks. The second a deal pops up they jump on it and grab it before anyone else can. They also are licensed dealers and own a lot. They will flip cars on sites but they have some respect for the original seller and don't put things back on the same site they bought it from. Also they have paid to be sponsors on those sites. It's a service to a seller when they can unload a car fast and get cash but it is still kinda shitty to the person who really wants it for them selves to now have to get middle'd buy a quick draw with cash.

BTW, Texas sucks

as far as the cam journals go. The only way to fix them would be the bearings like said but as an FYI i wouldn't sell or use those lifters. Think about the trash that went through that oil to scar those joutnals...

a conflict of interest exists when there is the POTENTIAL for conflict. not when problems have occurred.

is it a conflict of interest when:
A) a senator (who owns stock in an ethanol production business) votes AGAINST a bill concerning the reduction in dependance on foreign oil?
B) a senator (who owns stock in an ethanol production business) votes FOR a bill concerning the reduction in dependance on foreign oil?
C) ALL OF THE ABOVE

the answer is C

obviously, in this case, whether or not HLYWD has done any wrong whatsoever, a conflict of interest does exist. there is the potential for problems due to his dual roles as a moderator of the classifieds and an avid buyer/seller of the classifieds.

who's to say if someone posted up a complete coyote longblock for free, he wouldn't lock the thread and call dibs? i'd like to think a person in his position would see the conflict and try to maintain some level of transparency. and i'm sure he probably would do the right thing in that case. but the fact remains that his role as moderator and his role as buyer/seller would have the potential for conflict. and that's all you need. just the potential. you can be a grade A, upstanding guy with a doctorate in business ethics, and you would still have a conflict of interest.

Disclaimer: I used to be a somewhat (although never very) active member of this forum when I owned my 2006 Mustang GT, and I'm currently Caleb's (HolyWd) roommate.

Just thought I would add this in since we're all bashing each other:
I posted my racestar wheels/tires for sale for $1200. Holywd pm'd me asking if I would trade for his CS66 wheels, which he had listed for $850, and apparently bought for $600. I told him I would need tires as well. Later he posts MRR Wheels for sale and I asked if he would trade, plus I would include some cash if necessary. He said he wasn't interested because they wouldn't clear his brembo's. Sounds to me like he wasn't interested because he couldn't turn enough profit on them.

The MRR Wheels and tires are mine. I asked Caleb to help me sell them being that he has good reputation for selling and ships a lot of parts (especially wheels). I recently bought some Brembo's that were take-offs from a friends car and the MRRs would no longer fit once they're installed. I ordered the 18" wheels that I want, but don't have the extra money to buy the tires I want until my MRR wheels sell. So I've got a set of 18s and brembos sitting in our garage, waiting on the MRR to sell. So obviously I just wanted money out of it, not any trades. If caleb wanted to trade for some parts he wanted/needed then pay me for the wheels, that was fine too. It had nothing to do with him turning profit, they are rather useless to me and they won't fit on his car either, so what's the point?

Well, here's how a deal of mine went with Caleb..

He had a Roush bumper w/ fogs/harnesses that he wanted to trade for a stock bumper plus some cash. After I had agreed to drive 8 hours from Little Rock to Dallas to do the swap, he tells me that he sold the fogs and harnesses locally, but that I was "still getting one hell of a deal." Sure, I'll agree with that, a Roush bumper for a long drive and a bill. The day after that, I put up a WTB ad for some Roush foglights. He sent me a message and told me I could have a set for $100. Assuming he had another set just sitting around, I told him that'd be fine, didn't give it a second thought and I fired up the PayPal. Turns out, he never even took the lights out of the bumper. A blatant lie, telling me that he had sold them locally. He had just bought the fogs a few weeks earlier and didn't want to lose out on money, I guess, even though his ad clearly stated that the lights and harnesses came with the swap.

Now, I understand Caleb has hooked many people up on here, but I won't do business with him again after that. I got the bumper and the lights without complaint, but I really feel that he shafted me.

I remember when you came down to swap the bumper. Caleb had bought a set of fog lights for that bumper because the ones that were in it were broken when he acquired the bumper. He wanted to sell them locally because he paid extra for them and didn't want to eat almost $100 in fog lights. You still got a good deal, I just think there was some type of miscommunication here.

I don't see anything in the thread about brembo's actually. The thread says that your friend got some new 18's, so he didn't need them anymore. Your pm said you would trade if they were 17's. Also, the wheels in the pics are mounted on a car without brembos.

That's because the new wheels don't have tires, and I have to be able to drive my car. The brembos aren't mounted yet because the MRR wheels won't clear the brembos, and they're the only set of wheels I have with tires on them. Once I can sell the MRR wheels, I'll buy tires and install my brembos, and put on the new wheels and tires.

It's pretty damn sad that he had to put you up to try and cover up all of these issues.

The point is, we shouldn't even have to be discussing these issues. They should be nonexistent.

Haters gonna hate.

Don't like Caleb? Don't buy his shit.

Don't like the way he does business? Don't buy his shit.

You want to take the time to acquire then sell parts, go for it. It's a shit load of WORK that Caleb should be reimbursed for.

A buyer gets a deal he/she is willing to pay the price he's asking for the item, what the fuck does it matter if he was in the right place at the right time and bought them for the price a SELLER was asking for?

Oh, but Caleb tried working out a deal that benefits him in the $ area. Are you fucking serious? Wal-Mart exists because American's want to pay the absolute lowest price possible for a given item. IF you settled on a deal and found out later that Caleb paid 10% less for that item, you're going to bitch about it? Really? Then go to any given store and bitch them out too.

As far as the Vendor shit goes, suggest it to Kimmer. If Kimmer thinks he needs to be a vendor to move parts, then Kimmer will make the call. Sitting here raking Caleb over the coals like this is WORSE than what you perceive Caleb is doing to YOU. Caleb gives his buddies on here a good deal, better than he gives regular members he doesn't know all that well. Kinda sounds like real fucking life doesn't it? But because it's the Internet and you belong to the same forum, you think he should treat your stupid ass, KURO, the same as he would treat me on a deal? LOL! Whatever. If I have something for sale Kuro, and you want it, the price goes up 100% just because your a faggoty little shitbag of anger, disgust, immaturity and all out bitch. Prices are subject to change at anytime based on the purchasers attitude. This isn't Let's Make a Motherfucking Deal. It's real life. Just because it's on the Internet, that doesn't mean you should get special fucking consideration dumbass.

So far, on all of these deals people are bitching about, you paid a price you were willing to pay for something Caleb had in his possession. But after the fact, you want to come back in here and bitch about the deal you got? OMG! ROFLMFAO!!!!

Fucking drama queen bullshit.

I'll peruse the classifieds and forums to find good people who are willing to help out a forum member with free parts. I will than sell them on the forum. This is me paying it forward.

Were those cam journals serviceble btw?

HELL NO!!!! LOL!!!

I understand what you're saying Nasty. Me personally, I'd be a lot more giving to most of my fellow forum members. And I practice paying it forward all the time because I've had events in my life where I've helped a stranger and saw how much of a difference it can make as well as having had strangers help me when we were down.

But to EXPECT another person to conduct themselves the same as you, well that just makes the paying it forward thing not mean as much. I would much rather someone do it of their own free will than someone who felt "guilted", to coin a word, into doing it.

I look at the overall person. Caleb is a good man. None of us knows how HE pays things forward in HIS life. Making assumptions based off of what's been posted so far isn't quite damning enough for it to affect my friendship with Caleb.

There's ZERO doubt in my mind that the large majority of the people on this forum do things in their life that would anger/cause distrust/disappoint/disgust/offend other members if it were known. I just cannot, and will not, judge a man based off of shit like this.
