Goning down the QM can I leave it in 3rd gear or should I leave it in D with O/D off? I know it seems like a dumb question but I am new to the whole auto thing.

Ok sounds like a plan. Should I try launching off the foot break or just floor it when the light drops? Also going to be running on a 275-40-17 MT DR's.

I have had better luck getting up on the converter a little, but other guys have done better launching from an idle. You'll just need to experiment to see what works best for you.

Yeah I run the same DRs with my automatic. I rev up just a little, like to 1500-2000 rpm tops, then floor it at takeoff (and hold on ;)).

Put the auto in drive with traction control off. You wont get through 4th gear to worry about overdrive, so you can leave OD on or off.

And for burnout, I do a light burnout using foot-braking, putting the car in 2nd gear before burning out, rev up to 4-5k for a good dusting off, then ease out, stop before the line, put it in drive (making sure it is in drive!), then staging.

Have fun!

Just a quick note - putting the 5r55s in 3rd does exactly that, no 1st and 2nd, just 3rd.

I have an auto w/ 4:10's too..And I went to the track with street tires..It just sucked..I couldnt stall past 2,000 rpm(no converter either) and it resulted in crappy 60 ft. times, plus it wasnt revving high enough..This spring Ill have cams, DR's and a stall converter, no more playing around, its 11's or ima shoot myself...
