Hey guys,

i have the following Autometer Nexus Gauges on my car: Boost/Vac, Water Temp, Fuel Pressure, Wideband AFR, and the tach adapter.

i love the gauges themselves, but i've given up hope on Autometer updating their 4 year old piece of crap Nexus N1.0 software that's supposed to read gauge datalogs :(

they admit the software is outdated and that it wont read a datalog saved on a car with the Nexus wideband AFR, but haven't bothered to put in the effort to update it (it's been a little over 2 years since my first inquiry with them!!)

having given up hope on Autometer support (but not my gauges) i figured i'd try to write my own decoder (perhaps even a web application) that can extract and graph data from such datalogs!

Now this where your help could come in handy:
i need some log files (RECORD.NEX) from some of you that do NOT have the Nexus AFR gauge attached.

what would really be awesome is if someone could be bothered to run two datalogs simultaneously for this purpose

one through the nexus gauges, and one through an SCT Xcalibrator, datalogging as many common sensors as possible.. and start both logs together.

The weekend is coming soon and i would love to take a crack at this :)

any takers?

That would be sweet! thanks in advance Jeostang!

p.s: if anyone has an older module that never got the AFR gauge attached.. i'd love to see a datalog from that too, since the module firmware had to be updated (i know mine was) to enable the AFR gauge, i'd like to see whether there's been a change in the log format as well.

cruisin: if your battery is charged, you should be able to turn on (you don't even need to start the engine), make sure an SD card is inserted in the remote module and once the gauges are initialized, press the record button.
record some 5-10 seconds and press the stop button.
now if you remove that SD card and insert it into your computer (with a card reader, or on some laptops just insert it directly) you should find a file named RECORD.NEX that's all we need

Do you need the motor turn over for this? The car has been down for at least a year a half while I did the motor and some other things. I can't promise that the motor can even crank yet. I'm going to my car (it's in storage still) on the 23rd to do a few things can you wait that long? If it wasn't anhour away from me I'd go eight away but I have to make that trip next Friday anyways.

Are you still in Dubai? I could even mail you the unit I'd you want to fuck around with it but I need round trip for the ride because I'm a broke sumbitch right now. I won't news the controller box till the end of May. I almost updated the firmware about a month ago because I have wideband just sitting in the glove box waiting to be installed. Kinda glad I didn't since it may be a help to you

well ideally i will need some numbers, so a running engine would help. .but even if it's just standing still without the motor running, the gauges should be reading something
like coolant temp, or 0 boost/vac, etc

just don't go out of your way to get it :)

i am still in Dubai, but let's try to do a few logs before considering to ship things back and forth, as all my gauges are sat in a box now too :)

Ok, when I get to my car next Friday, I'll throw a different battery in that has some juice. Likely a week after that it will be up and running and I will be able to get you whatever you need from it. I have boost, water temp and N20 pressure chained together.

Any idea if there's a way to hook up 2 AFR ( one for each bank) guages in the same chain or would I be forced to buy a second module? My aux is currently being used for the bottle pressure
