Hey guys,

I figured that it would be a good idea to keep a diary of all my drag racing that I do. I never thought I would do it that much but lately I have been going quite frequent. I have only been to the track a total of twice now but I have been improving a bit and want to make sure I leave notes to myself after every session. This is more for myself than anyone else but if you would like to chime in and give tips that would be great!

Notes: I had a ton of runs this the track was quite dead probably a total of 20 cars. As some would say I was hot lapping and the car was heat soaked learn that can cause slower ET's. I had no traction at all with the fuzion Hri tires. Spun a ton in first and second. Launching at like 2k RPM's also shifting at almost 5500 Rpms. Mods were CAI , tune, axle backs, and 3.55 gears.

Stupid scanner wont work...

Same mods as before except for the new line lock

60' ... 2.418
330... 6.374
1/8... 9.528

1/4.... 14.495
MPH... 100.05

R/T... .486
60' ... 2.158
330... 5.980
1/8... 9.066
MPH.. 79.88
1/4... 13.922

330... 5.851
1/8... 8.918
MPH.. 80.10
1/4... 13.763
MPH... 102.27

Notes: First run was with a passenger so I knew my times were going to improve. I am now running nitto NT555 tires on the rear. I notice alot better tracting through the gear and now launching at 3k RPms. Best time of 13.7 @102mph. It was a great turn out. I believe what also made the difference was the fact I started shifting at 6200 rpms. I believe this is okay can anyone chime in. If I had drag radials I believe I can be in the 13.5's or so hopefully. Not sure if much more can be lower with out changing anything since the mph didnt change much from the 13.9 to 13.7 The only thing I forgot to do is power shift :asshat: Any thoughts from you all?

Thanks will update when I go again. I want to start data logging with my sct if anyone knows how let me know thanks not sure if this belongs in drag racing tech section but I thought I put this thread in chit chat so I wouldn't get flamedd.

Thanks guys

I will have a video of the 13.9 up soon enough

The options + might be going to track soon

Welll Lately I have been working alot at least 30+ hours a week on top of school. I have been thinking a ton about what path I want to go down. Do I want to run my car and hear a whine or my car to sound like a jet or spray! I am sure you all have seen all of my post from time and time again. Now that it seems like its about to be a reality I decided I am going to post all the numbers for my self and options. All options sound great for me but still trying to find the one that suits me best!

Nitrous option:

I can afford nitrous easily and go straight into getting some serious meaty tires and suspension upgrades with some bolt ons. I like this options alot because I feel like I end up developing the car overall just not power. Another reason why I think I like the nitrous idea is because its not always wearing the engine because it runs when ever I want it to. Now I am not sure if nitrous is harder on the engine then turbo or s/c but from what I hear is they all can cause damagae.

Turbo:

This option I would go with the on3 turbo (base kit) No upgrades to the BOV or waste gate. I love the idea but just seems risky because I dont have the money to actually go into the motor and do all the things I Want to do. Just doesnt seem as safe. I wouldnt be able to get guages or anything like that right away. Plus their is no tuners that are good around the corpus area.

Supercharge:

Vortech non-cooled from americanmuscle. thats it ill be set back for awhile untill money is racked up for gauges and other things. I like this option more than the turbo because I have heard superchargers are easier to maintain.

Should be going to the track with in the next couple weeks hopefully I can set a new personal best.

I don't want to sound mean, but before you start modding the car you need to learn to race and handle the car first. That car will run 13.0's the way it is. Get some drag radials, and get consistent. I know you may think that 13.9 and 13.7 are close, but your runs should all be with in a tenth of each other. Once you are consistent then you can track the improvements your mods make. Your react time is slow, you should be below .200.

No offense taken. I know im no pro at drag racing that was my second time at the the track so i have alot of time to learn the car. Thats why i made this diary so after every trip i to the track i can note what i did differentlt. You did share good information though ill try to be more consistent. Do you think i csn lower my time some more?

Yea, it is very hard to get consistent if you can't launch the car the same way every time ( THAT DAY). Every day can be different! If you can't buy or barrow some DR's, just launch at 2500 and ease into the gas, nothing wrong with spinning the tires as long as the car is moving and not going sideways. Hit 2nd at full throtle if it wheel hops you can play with air pressures or install LCA's and relocation brackets. That is the only mods i would make the first year. Learn to max the car out, and it will pay off in years to come when you start adding power. When i started my best ET was 15.4 , at the end of the season i was running 13.02 to 13.05 all day long. my only mods were 3.91 rear, and tune.( not my current car )

With CAI, Tune, off road x pipe, 4.10s and nitto drags I ran a 12.9 with 1.91 60 foots. Then with cams headers I hit 12.5 with m/ts with 1.79 60 foots. You need to work on the launch, once you get that, the rest is a piece of cake. Ohh.. get a short throw shifter, what a big ass difference.
That reminds me I need one, lol.

Im recieving my bbr cams tomorrow, and should install them along with some steeda udps I bought. After that, LCA's and some drags then I'm off to the track. Should be like 2 weeks before I go. Hoping for low 12s... hoping..... lol

I'm going to install my BBR cams tonight around 6pm. I'm going to install them using my old cam bolts for the meantime, just to hold the cams in place. Tomorrow I should get the new phaser bolts from Hacienda Ford and then I can finally turn it on. Wish I could turn it on tonight :(.

Are you going to the track tonight? I'm going to go on Friday, see what I run on street tires and 3.31s probably low 13's lol.

May have to ride the clutch a bit to avoid the wheelspin...lower your tire pressures til you find right psi (depends)...and as for reaction times...soon as you see the last yellow light come on, LAUNCH!
