Bad Sellers

This I agree with completely but it's a different story if the seller has committed to the sale and given his word and then sells it to someone else. When I sell something here and someone says he wants it and I am just waiting for the money. I am not going to sell it to someone else, while I'm waiting for the money, just because they offer more than the first guy.

So the solution for the seller would be---no dibs---whomever pays first gets it---and state that in the ad.

However if an agreement is reached, I would say---ok we have a deal as long as I get the money by "certain date/time" If I don't get the money by then, its no longer yours and will go back up for sale.

When I sold my Toyota 4WD a few months ago---I had these people come by and look at it, they said they wanted it, and left to go to the bank. 2 days later nothing, but I got a call by someone else who had cash in hand and wanted to look at the truck right now. Guess what I did? I sold the truck. And those people that where "going to the bank" never called or came back.

im just going to throw a postive in here for huffen as well, he hooked me up pretty sweet, told him i would buy a part, he sold it to me for less than his asking cost

If the part is local I much rather pay cash since I can't stand PayPal. CC has been hacked already once from there site. So you can say who ever pays first gets it but I would think people dealing local don't deal with PayPal.

Just to get technical he never sold the part to you so technically he isn't a bad seller to you. He might be a liar but if he got the money first from someone else I see no problem in that matter as that has happened to me before as well.

Juggling local and online deals at the same time is a challenge. You get someone who indicates they want to buy something then fails to follow through. Or, they'll have the money in 2 days. Then one or two people online say they want it, one has the money now, one will have to get it, etc.

Generally, I try to follow the first-come first-chance-at-completing-the purchase, if they are serious. But cash does talk, too. When I get both a local buyer and an on-line buyer both interested, I'll let one know that another person is interested and has an 'x' amount of time to make the purchase first. Then they have their chance. Fair and honest to all parties.

However, if one buyer has taken steps to make the purchase and has planned to meet and do it, then even if online is offering more money, the seller should take the first agreed-to deal, as stated by Jim, since a deal had been made. And giving the buyer a reasonable time estimate, of course.

I am no way defending the guy but just what to state that he didn't nothing wrong because he didn't keep parts, keep money, or take forever to ship. He shouldn't be included in this just because he lied and sold his parts off to someone else. I mean I dont agree with that neither would I do that but he did nothing wrong to be in this thread.

In this particular situation, everybody keeps bringing up some crap about 'two days' or whatever, but Bodam clearly said he had the money in hand and a verbal agreement was reached with the seller, with the only remaining detail being to meet and exchange the money for the item.

About sums up what I think right there. Sorry, don't care if you are the God damned Pope, you are only judged by your actions and in this case and this instance, Huffen was a "bad seller"

Never said lying was good but should we put him in same category as the rest like HOLYWD just cause he had situation that he lied. Who did he rip off? Was the OP affected in anyway by this? No and like I said I've had this haopen before. I have already daid I dont agree with what he did but also dont think he drserves to be put in here.

Not to beat a dead horse or make assumptions, but, I believe the real issue is the back handed way Huffen went about it. It seems he's having a rough time from what I read and he needs cash. Thats fine, I understand that. I would have more respect fot this situation if he were to have came out and said

"I'm sorry dude, I really need the cash right now, I'm hard up and someone is offering more for them. I can't give them to you for the price we agreed on because its putting me in a bad spot. I know we agreed but my situation is more important right now. I will give them to you for $XXX but if not I have to sell them elsewhere"

Not:

"I'm keeping them"

and then getting inadvertently sold out and called on his lie by the guy he sold them to in his own for sale thread.

Just think of it this way. You really want a PS3/Xbox360 or whatever from BestBuy. You reserve one as per their rules to be picked up on such and such a date, only to be told they sold your product because someone was there earlier with cash in hand. Would you ever do business with that BestBuy again? I know I wouldn't. No respect

I could be wrong here, but when some one says "take your time" it doesn't really mean that. Well it does but like like It is just being polite. Same as if you help your friend out and you he says thanks for the ride and you say "any time" It really doesn't mean any time.. LOL

If I do a deal as to meet someone local for a sale I will always offer to paypal $20 in good faith and pay the remaining when we meet. I also explain that if we meet and product doesnt meet my standards, keep the $20... 99% of the deals have said no to this and we just meet and pay. I HAVE been offered more for my parts, if I have made a deal already I'll explain, if deal falls thru, your next, for what I would sell to first first, not what you offered as more... KARMA is a mean bitch!

that's a reasonable question - there has not been any discussion of it among the staff, my take would be yes there would be. I know where u r going with this question and that is already under discussion by the staff

Thank you for that. Would not really want anyone getting booted, just not allowed to keep practicing their bad habits.
