I'd like to share everything that I'm currently going through with a member of this site, wesmcf.
I had purchased a transmission from from Wes a few weeks ago. The price was $600 plus shipping. We started working out shipping quotes, and we mentioned possibly meeting halfway if we couldn't get a cheap enough rate. After he got a few quotes, the cheapest the guy could get me was $190, shipped through Estes Freight, or $130 to meet him in Kentucky. Okay, deal, ship it out.
So, the guy had me send him $790 and that he would get everything shipped out as soon as the money went into his account. He had also told me that, if the price was a bit different than what he quoted me, he would either reimburse me or he would send me an invoice for the difference. So, a few days later he lets me know the money went through and that he'll get it shipped out in the next few days.
Two days later, he calls me at work and tells me the actual shipping is going to be about $320. I tell him no, so he wants to try and get me to meet halfway. At this point, I'm getting leery about the whole situation, so I just ask him for a refund. I don't have a truck and my Dad works weekends, so it would be next to impossible for me to meet up with the guy. He tells me it'll be a while before he can refund me, because he already spent the money. Okay, not cool, but whatever, I'll be patient.
A few days later, he texts me and is trying to get me to meet up with him again. I tell him no, I just can't do it. He goes off on me, saying that it's not his fault that the buyer backed out at the last minute and that he can't pull the money out of his ***. This was Thursday, the 7th. I tell him he has until the 15th to get me my money before I resort to PayPal. Last night, I filed a dispute against him, and here's what happened:
From me:
Like I said, I gave you a week to refund my money and you've failed to do so. I understand we had discussed meeting halfway for the transmission, but that option is no longer available to me, due to personal matters. I also understand that you have already spent the money I paid you, but I have to take action; I can't afford to just sit around while I have $790 out there, hoping for you to get back with me. Since I'm unable to meet halfway, I really don't know of any other options to resolve this, other than a refund. Please get back with me so we can work this out.

From Wes:
Like we agreed I had till Friday to get the money. What happened to that? I have the cash but can't make it to the bank till Saturday. I am sending back $740 due to the fact I had to pay paypal fees and take my time to package and drive to the shipping company before you told me you didn't want it.

From me:
The time when I file the claim doesn't matter, I'm just getting the ball rolling. it wouldn't matter if I filed this tomorrow or tonight. You'll send me a full refund, I'm not bargaining with you on that. When you refund the money, PayPal will refund you the fees and it'll be like this never happened. I will not accept $740. You said the shipping center was 4 miles from your work, it's not like you had to go out of your way.

From Wes:
I have forwarded all our messages and your contact info to my dad and he will figure it out by filing a counter complaint against you but it will be settled tomorrow

Today, his father texted me and said this:
"I am trying to resolve the transmission issue. I have spoken with PayPal to discuss the dispute and possible solutions. First and foremost - We are not refusing to repay you. When you entered into the agreement to purchase the transmission Wes used the funds to pay some outstanding bills. He advised you that he would work out the repayment. In your correspondence that was fine with you. I understand that things and priorities change. What the facts are: you broke the purchase contract. We had expenses and time invested in getting your transmission ready for shipment. I will send you $740 today via PayPal and close this mess. If that is not satisfactory, we will pursue the steps thru PayPal which according to them could take 30 days or more. I look forward to hearing from you and resolving this issue."
My reply:
(Father's name), I appreciate you getting back with me. Like I told Wes, I'm not willing to negotiate the refund price with you. Regardless of whether you sent me the transmission or you send it to another person, you have to package it. In order to even get an accurate quote, the transmission should have been weighed after it was packaged. I refuse to pay anything out of my own pocket for this. Either you can send a full refund, or I'll be forced to escalate the claim. I've been patient and understanding, but I won't bargain with you on this."

I just want everyone to be aware of this user. He tried to suck a few extra bucks from me multiple times during this transaction, so be weary of dealing with this man. The claim has been filed with PayPal, and I'm eager to get this resolved.
